I'm just now starting to look at starting a WoC list, so I can't comment much on composition. I will toss in a few things about the post and general rules though.
1. Don't post point values of items and such. You can post the value of a unit with all of their stuff, but not how much, say, the shroud costs.
2. All magic items are unique items unless they specifically say otherwise. As such, you can't bring two Festering Shrouds with you.
3. What's the Disc of Tzeench doing with the Chosen up there? Just wondering where that came from.
Thonhin, Guardian of the Vaults of Winter
Wood Elves: 17/1/2
I dont suggest using chosen warriors because they are too expensive and normal chaos warriors are good enough already ! ( give them halberds and shields and you have 2 str 5 attacks by each warrior or a 2+ armour save in combat if you use hand weapons and shields depending on the unit you are battling. )
The marauder horsemen look fine.
I suggest you drop one of the marauder units. As for the unit of marauders, give them light armour and shields and maybe musician.I dont see the point in giving marauders a champion.
Sorcerer of Tzeentch looks cool. But just 1 sorcerer....whats it going to do ??? Do you want a magic heavy army or just magic defense ? Decide..
Drop the Chaos lord ( cost-effectiveness it is not worth it in a 2k pts game IMO ) maybe and make 2 exalted champions instead of it ... 670 pts is too much for just one char in a 2k pts list ! Besides exalted champions are still amazing warriors and give you more mobility and add to the units' punch ( so attach them to units ).
DONT USE DRAGONS in a 2k pts list man...the enemy will make sure your dragon is in tatters in like 1-3 rounds ( cannons, bolt throwers, magic)
Chaos Knights - > Good pick

thanks man... i didnt see that disc on the chosen that was a total mistake i'll make those changes now
ok i've made a few edits on the list.
for the moment i dont want to be overly magic dependant because i want to get better at the actual game mechanics first. so my sorcerer is mainly for defence and small annoying magics at enemies. also keeping on the disc should keep him out of trouble.
i understand the point of dropping the chaos lord of the dragon, he is a big target. i'll take him off once i get an oppurtunity to use him.. i feel its something i should do once.
a friend of mine suggested i drop shaggoth for a giant with mark of nurgle for first attack... is first attack worth more than the 6 weapon skill shaggoth has?
Sure if you're dumb and put it in the middle of the field in LoS of all warmachines. Good placement and movement, and tactical charges can ensure your dragons survivability. Also, most armies dont have access to warmachines, and if you have proper magic defense, you can generally keep him safe from magic. Granted i wouldn't put a chaos lord on it, i'd take a sorc lord; but thats a whole different arguement.
2010 WoC Cav W/L/D - 7/3/1
With the points you will save from taking off the dragon and Lord, I would take some warriors to keep the center of the board strong. I won my second game ever against a very experienced player by going all out magic. I tried things i would not try again but worked quite well. I lost a couple of times with my magic army after and started focusing on game mechanics instead of magic. I have become a more complete player now that I don't rely on magic to win games.
