Hi there, my question is why does everyone take shields on their Marauder Horsemen instead of light armor? Since they both cost the same per model, isn't the armor the better choice since you can use it with flails, etc.?
I don't see the point in light armour or shields for these guys. It doesn't make a difference and they are fast cavalry so if you manouver them well you won't be shot at most of the time.
Depending on what army you are playing against a 5+ armor save (horses & shields) gets negated by higher strength units. Which is the reason that people give Marauder flails in the first place...
Yeah, when you have a 16" charge range, you want to take advantage of that, and str 5 attacks on the charge let you do that. Long striking, hard hitting units are a good thing. I always take a musician, too, though I forgot to model it for the bunch I just finished.
