Welcome to Librarium Online!
I've been challenged to a 5k game of fantasy my WoC v's a GW staff members HE.
I've no idea where to start with writing this list I need HELP and I need it badly, don't worry about what models and stuff as I have enough of everything to easy cover a 5k list no matter how it's made up... well not all marauders on foot but you get the idea.
There are no limits on special characters and stuff so I know I'll be facing T&T and the guy with a bolt thrower bow. I know he'll be going heavy magic res as well, there will be dragons a dragon mage or 2 and a lord on a dragon so I'll need to combat these... oh and I think he'll have 5 bolt throwers.
That's about all I know about his list.
I don't know whether to go magic heavy with Galruch ,Vilitch and a Caster DP or go another route instead.
So please all suggestions welcome so long as they are constructive.
Chears for your time.
Out of our special character choices, I'd definitely take Kholek and Vilitch. Kholek is your anti-dragon, and Vilitch's ability should scale really well in such a massive game w/ heavy magic being tossed around.
Keep the tzeentch magic to lvl 4 casters and take lvl 2's w/ nurgle for support, since flickering fire is useless against anything w/ dragon armor. Infernal Puppet is a must. I'd also take Black Tongue, though it probably won't work on Teclis (he ignores his first miscast).
Hounds can threaten bolt throwers by turn 2 and you only need 2 alive out of a unit of 5 to have a good chance of killing the crew. The only downside is that you can't deploy them too far from your general if you want them to have a decent chance to not panic.

Or you could beat him without special characters... there's a thought.
2010 WoC Cav W/L/D - 7/3/1
In a 5k game... If I ever played special characters this would be it. Definitely use vilitch, kholek would be good but be careful of the bolt throwers, maybe put some slaanesh magic in there to help control the dragons, or spam hellshriek. I don't think a DP would be that good, he would get shot to bits. Maybe if you gave him mantle and fury but thats pretty expensive. Not sure what would be best troop style, probably an infantry cavalry mix. I would hesitate to take too many horseman, especially khorne cruise missiles, as he always strikes first, maybe more slaanesh harassers. And definitely include some chariots. Oh and include great weapons over flails on your characters.
You should let us know how the battle went im very curious.
Vilitch + Gaulrach sounds good too, and another slaaneshi lvl 4, very, very scary
You know that he’s got Teclis, Tyrion and a couple of dragons, several bolt throwers and at least 2 mages with scrolls.
With Teclis and possibly other mages I wouldn’t go to heavy on the magic. Depending on the decks he takes Teclis could be blowing away units with metal or deny you any casting with drain magic, or even drop pit of shades on kholek for fun
Most of the special characters in the chaos book are pretty good, so provided Teclis doesn’t go about blowing up their magic items up id take Kholek, Archaon and Galrauch. You have two other lord slots so Sorcerer lord of slaanesh & chaos lord on dragon would be my choices. Though you could go more magic heavy and swap the lord for another sorcerer lord but you do need stuff to smash his dragons, or at least threaten them so they don’t dance all over you.
Puppet is a must but black tongue isn’t, Teclis ignores his first miscast so I wouldn’t bother, but it would be useful if he’s got other archmages.
With 2 dragons and Kholek you can guess where those bolt throwers are going to be aiming, so you need to deal with those early on so you can get the most out of your monsters. Wulfik could be useful to kill stuff like this hiding at the back, with a unit of slaanesh Marauders hes going to survive return fire and munch through any squishy bolt throwers, mages and archers that are hiding. You’re going to force those characters to run as well, since you can’t decline a challenge from Wulfik so it will cause disruption to any characters hiding in units where he appears.
With all the terror and shooting I would go slaanesh for most units. Just take other units that are good and ones you like. So knights, dragon ogres, warriors, horsemen and whatever rare choices you prefer.
At 5k you can go crazy with all the characters so don’t forget you do need an army there to stop them getting crushed by ranked infantry and cavalry charges.
Hope this helps
The man of tomorrow is judged by his battle today.
You might wanna bring a dragon yourself. Just to have one more thing to deal with bolt's etc.

Manorr Stormbreaker, the Silent - Lord of Khorne
O, glaive of putrefaction on a juggernaut, ultimate dragon and monster killer:
- Armor of Zhrak
get him into a fight with a dragon, and even if he dies, you now has a S/T 2 dragon running around, also, exalteds on disk are almost mandatory, hunt the bolt throwers turn 2!
Since so many people are talking about special characters, i suppose i'll go down that road as well. Referring back to the bolt thrower issue, another method i've seen that also works fairly decent and may be cheaper than using heros up to just hunt low point bolt throwers, you could use a good block of marauders wit wulfrik, i can almost guarantee that it will be just as effective at getting rid of the bolt throwers and will afford you more points in which to spend on those ex heroes to utilize them in another fashion. Yes, it's not a surefire turn 2 ditch on bolt throwers, but it COULD be.
Also, Archaon is a great idea in this particular case, being able to confer Ld10 up to 18 inches in a game of this magnitude will have it's rewards, not to mention is other rather unspeakable abilities.
Other than that, i'd be sure to have at least 2 blocks of 3-5 dragon ogres fer shock/dragon support and as for the rest of your cav/core, well, i'm pretty sure u can figure out what you want to do with that.
But as far as the comments on what other special characters to bring, i totally concur with the others posting here, vitlich/kholek are both great ideas, about the only other one i might put out there as food for thought is valkia should you decide to field warshrines for your rare choices, although her other abilities, i.e. rerolling failed break tests shouldn't come into play that much if you plan your close combat out right.
Best of luck to you sir, may your WoC prevail!
I wonder if there will be cake.....
