Alas the book hasn't come out where i live yet, however ive read enough on forums to get the general idea. I was thinking of running something like this,
10 M Horsemen w/ flails, throwing spears or axes, light armor and Mark of Nurgle, musician, and debatable standard. This would run somewhere around 215, wonder if you think it can get its points back.
So things can fire in 2 ranks does that apply to fast cav? Also fast cavalry get a free 12in movement at the beginning of the game which is pretty sweet, will let us get these guys into position to harass and threaten flank charges, and the MoN will hopefully protect from shooting. I would be worried about magic missiles or template attacks though. Let me know what you think.
MAybe I am wrong, but I have not found any sentence in rules that fire in two ranks is only for infantry - so yes you can shoot with all of them.
But I dont think they get their points back in this setup. What I think they should do is to hunt war machines. And I dont think you will do any damage with the throwing weapons unfortunately
Good banner for them could be a 15pt banner that gives you +1M or 10pt banner ensuring you flaming attacks and flank with them regenerating/treeman targets etc.
They could work, but you'll probably want at least 12-13 marauders in there, otherwise they'll lose the ability to deny your opponent's their rank bonus after only a single casualty, and since that's calculated after close combat is finished, you'll need some excess wounds in there.
Personally, I prefer the idea of 7 Chaos Ogres with chaos armor and great weapons, but either choice could work well.
