I recently talked to an old warhammer buddy of mine and he always loved to play warriors and dwarves. He was always fascinated with the chaos dwarves but didnt like to use the old rules set from white dwarf and he didnt like to use the indy book because most of the tournaments he went to wouldnt allow it.
SO he made an chaos dwarf army out of dwarves and warriors of chaos bits and he is using the warriors of chaos rules for his chaos dwarves.
He uses heavily armored dwarves on 25 milimeter bases as warriors of chaos. He uses heavily armored dwarves on the horses for knights. He uses the hell cannons as hell cannons for they are already manned by chaos dwarves. His marauders are less armored more barbaric looking dwarves. His characters are all dwarves riding on dragons and chariots and stuff like that.
All together its a very efficient army and plays just like warriors except his fluff is that they are dwarves of chaos.
Anyone think this is a good idea for all those who want to play chaos dwarves
Didn't the chaos dwarf book have hobgoblins and centaurs? m.horse are your hobgoblin wolf riders, marauders are your hobgoblins, knights are your bull centaurs and warriors are your dwarfs.
If I saw a nicely converted army of Chaos Dwarves I would play it no matter what the rules he was using. There are only a few things I see wrong with using WoC rules and the major one is you're too fast! M4 and I5 is very un-Dwarvish imo. Also, the hobgoblins and Dwarf centaurs are supposed to be your cav. Dwarfs on horses is just weird. Like I said though, its a monumental feat to convert an entire army and I would applaud the guy for going to the effort and enjoy the game.
Absolutely, there's no problem with someone who wants to use WoC rules for Dwarves. Especially since the current CD "article" is garbage. I love the CD, I just started a team of them in Blood Bowl.
To be honest though, I wouldn't use the Knights. I'd use Dragon Ogres instead, as either a tit-for-tat substitute as Bull Centaurs, or convert something and use the rules. If you want to use Chaos Knights, I would go with the Centaur models from the Beastman range, and give them some Chaos armor type gear, or just downright mate a CKnight upper body to a CKnight horse's torso and call them Heavy Centaurs or something. Regular Centaurs, or as someone said- goblin wolfriders, could be your M.Horsemen.
Another thing to consider: Chaos Dwarves supposedly "engineered" the Black Orc as a more brutal form of Hobgoblin (early Orcs actually). If he wanted to, he could run his current dwarf "warriors" as Chosen, and fill out his regular Warrior regiments with the plastic Black Orc boxes. Marauders are then just standard Orcs.
This would keep everything looking right and making sense on the bases, because remember no matter what model you use, the base size must be correct! That means 25mm for all of our models, Marauders included.
I think you just use the old chaos dwarf models and the new WoC ruleset and you'd be fine.
