    Combat Lord/Hero Builds

With the new magic items and overall game changes, I imagine our combat builds will change pretty heavily too. Post any exceptional combat lord/hero builds you find work really well (Pinkus, post your epic BSB for all to cherish).

    Chaos Lord
    Mark of Tzeentch
    Barded Steed
    Shield
    Talisman of Preservation
    Bronze Armor
    Helm of Many Eyes
    Gold Sigil Sword

1+armor 3+ward. That's already nuts. But he's also ASF with Init 10. Overkill you say? Not with the new speed=hatred rule... this guy essentially ALWAYS hates everyone in addition to ASF. Put him in a Knight unit with Banner of Rage and this guy is 6 ASF hatred attacks, almost always looking for 3s, at Str 5. Unkillable assassin.

Also, even though he's Tzeentch you don't have to worry about Psych now either, or Killing Blow (hey, you'll fail that 3+ ward sometimes). Stupidity is a non-issue if you keep the BSB nearby, and usually a non-issue at Ld9 anyway.

The guy who made that video... ugh.

Build 1: Preservation is a no-brainer. Dragonhelm.... why? Waste of points. 50 point spellcasting combo is a terrible idea on a Lord with the new miscast chart, esp with 1D6+1 rolls on the chart. Throw those on a sorc to boost casting. This guy is a huge point sink and doesn't do much.

Build 2: Just a take on the old Disc warmachine hunter... but now with a wasted 25 points into Terror? He'll beat warmachines in CC, no reason to make them run. Use the 25 points on something better to protect him.

Build 3: Preservation, always good. Armor of Silvered Steel on a Lord on a Jugger? REALLY? He's already 1+ without breaking a sweat, and the video wants to toss points onto a worse armor save? Then a sword of battle when a halberd would do just fine. Terrible.

Build 4: Not bad, although illegal, 2 magic armors.

    Build 5: Illegal too.

One I use all the time and has never let me down.
Lord, Tz, Preservation, Armour of Damnation, Great Weapon, Potion of Foolishness.
You have to re-roll to hit him. Then he's got a 3+ Ward. Then he can smack you back with 5/6 str 7 attacks. I like this build, he's pretty unkillable and fairly hurty. Great for Challenges.

    Another one,
Lord, Tz, Preservation, Pendant of Slaanesh, Halberd, Zhrakk. Goes in a unit with Rage.
6 Attacks (with Rage) 3+ Ward, if you hurt him he gets another attack. Str6 aint shoddy either. Could swap the Pendant with Helm of Many Eyes fore re-rolls to hit and ASF.

    Khorne ones........
Lord, Khorne, Jugger, Sword of Strife, Helm of Many eyes, Dawn Stone.
8 Attacks with ASF, 1+ Re-rollable save. Only str5 though.
    OR
Lord, Khorne, Sword of Swift Slaying, Potion of Might, Jugger.
6 Attacks, with ASF and can be str 8 for one round of combat to really ruin someones day. 1+ Save. Very Cheap too.

My BSB is simple and yet so so effective.

    Steed
    BSB
    Balberd
    Tzeentch
    4+ ward
    Favor of the gods

Goes in my knights and kills characters, or keeps the characters from killing the knights and he helps the warshrine break my knight unit.

The Lord Build I've been throwing around as a character killer is this:

    Tzeentch Lord
    AetherSword
    Other Trickster Shard
    Talisman of Endurance
    Charmed Shield
    (Insert Chaos Gift here)

Without the gifts he's at a healthy 344 points.
He ignores armor saves and forces you to re-roll ward saves. He's go in khorne knights, because I would want him to hurt my tzeentch knights. This combo should have no problem slicing through any character's defense.

He also has a 1+/4+ and ignores first hit.

I assume he has a steed also (the Lord)?

Quick question on your BSB. Because he is in the unit of knights, do you also still keep a standard bearer for that unit?

Yeah, my bad, he has a steed for the +2 armor save.

BSBs and standards can both be in a unit together.

Yeah but what I was wondering was what your opinion was on having both in a unit. Is it overkill to have a BSB and SB in the same unit?
