I've been jumping around the forums for months now trying to decide what army to play and how to play it right. Currently, I'm thinking about running a dual-god army. Slaanesh and Tzeentch.
I want to run Sigvald as my lord in a small unit of chosen as a hammer unit to support my two blocks of Tzeentch warriors.
The problem I'm having is that I also want some power in the magic phase... I'll be picking up my codex tomorrow night, but I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions to pick up my magic phase.
Eagerly awaiting responses,
If you want a combat lord on foot, I'd advise taking a cheaper 'regular' lord. You can gear up one to be as good or better than Sigvald, and free up points for a Sorcerer Lord.
A level 4 caster will be quite useful for dispel attempts. You can mark or not depending on which Lore you prefer. No choice too terrible.
If you've got the points, its not too hard to throw in a BSB and a level 2 caster for back-up.
(Note: You don't have to theme your lists as 'mono/dual/multi-god'. Chaos, by definition, is not uniform.)

I actually think Sigvald is a Steal for his points. You couldn't get a Chaos Lord like him, maybe as killy but not as durable, as durable but not as killy. Then you've got his strider rule, his LD10 and his stubborn. I think he's pretty ace.
However if you want power in the Magic phase I strongly suggest a Level 4. you can't squeaze a Level 4 and Sigvald into the same army unless you're playing big points (3k+)
You can try this though. It's my old combo.
Level 2, Tzeentch, Skull of Katam
Level 2, Tzeentch, Staff of Sorcerery,
You're getting plus 4 to cast on your spells which is pretty much Lord Level. You're getting +3 to dispel which is pretty much Lord Level too. Tzeentch Magic is pretty good too.
Yea Borak hit the nail on the head re: Sigvald. He combines massive offense (7 ASF S5 attacks) with 2+ armor and 4+ Regen. Literally impossible to get on a Lord with his 100 pt magic limit. Add in his various other benefits and he's a steal at the points.
That said, if you want serious magic power, you aren't going to be able to field him. The typical Sorc-Lord mega caster is about 400 pts, which leaves you with 350 for a combat lord. You could field both, but frankly, I think you'd do yourself a disservice fielding fully 750 points of Lords in a 3k army. You still need to add a survivable BSB (typically around 200 pts), leaving you without a ton of points to actually field units. WoC has so many good units and upgrades that you can't get too carried away with characters. Units like Marauders, and Warriors/Knights especially, are awesome compared to what other armies can put on the table. Warriors are the equivalent of most armies Special anvil and hammer units (Ironbreakers, Swordmasters) but you can field an unlimited number of them! IMO, that's the biggest strength of WoC armies, and shouldn't be overlooked.
the only way to field both sigvald and a sorcerrer is to have a lvl2 with the skull with MOT
that way u are getting +4 to cast and + 3 to dispell and even this will cost u around 200 points
our lord special characters are good but they are just too expensive
u wont be able to do an aggresive magic amy if u take a any lord unless its a sorcerer lord as we just dont have the points to field both
ur best bet is to stay deffensive with magic and agressive with combat
Thanks for the responses.
I agree. I'll need to run defensively in the magic phase. I just didn't want to get rolled in the magic phase is what I meant to say.
I plan on running Sigvald with a group of chosen with the BSB. Hopefully with the new movement rules they will be able to jump around, disbatch their target and head to the next target.
Can Chaos Sorcerers choose any lore? I was thinking about running life and death.
read the book and it tells u what lore they cant use
if u are running tzeench then put the blasterd standard on ur chosen and make them tzeench then put a bsb in there with banner of rage and give all the chosen extra weapon
gives them a 4+ ward against shooting, +1 attack and immune to physology and with sigvald in there they wont run after anything they are not ment to
perfect combination i think and will hack its wa threw anything
I'm taking a lvl 2 sorcerer with lore of death. spell familiar and collar of khorne (i know, not very thematic but )
he's only 160 points and gets 3 spells with about a 70% chance of gettting the purple sun, which is awesome against lizards, undead. So i've got 3 spells, i put him in the corner of my unit of marauders and just throw lots of dice around (assuming i roll well for winds of magic, which i usually do) If he miscasts and kills a few marauders i don't care. Also he's not expensive so it he only manages a few kills then thats ok too. But he has huge potential, the ability to snipe the enemy general..... awesome. Wounds caused have a chance to add more power dice..... better still.
