Hi all, I am trying to come up with good ideas for a converted Chaos Warshrine. Now i've seen a couple that were converted out of the corpse cart of the VC and a couple with just the horses switched out but I am really looking for a WOW factor. Wondered if you had any ideas to help me out or seen any cool ones that you could post? Thanks a lot!
Armies: 40k: Imperial Guard, Orks Fantasy: Skaven
I just played a woc army the other day, and the guy ran two really impressive tzeentch warshrines. They were floating islands of rock made out of insulation foam, with a sorceror and some shrine looking bits on em. these are some nasty units too! good luck with your conversion
sounds epic man!
maybe some kind of sacrificial thing on wheels?
what style were you thinking of? what sort of mark are they going to get?
the sacrificial thing would work good for khorne, while i was thinking of doing some sort of skrag the slautherer nurgle version. (you know, the ogre pulling that huge bowl...)
just remember, with chaos, the sky is the limit!!
please post pics of the result,
hope this helped and good luck!
You can still get plenty of WOW factor off the old Corpse Cart idea. It was a little easier for me, since I had the bitz just lying around, but I'm sure you could pick them up for cheap.
I built my Tzeentch-themed Shrine by turning the "ribs" of the Cart outwards like wings. I hung all sorts of bells, chains, and lanterns from them. They describe the Tzeentch shrines as having all sorts of chimes and lights on them.
I trimmed down the flame from the warpstone until it fit in the rear of the cart, and used other bits of the cart to build up a sort of fireplace around it. I figure that the warriors are tossing heads into it to melt the flesh off.
I mounted a spare dragon head to the front of the cart, with the yoke protruding through the teeth. It looks a little birdlike, so I thought it would please Tzeentch. I drilled out the eyes and mounted the torches from the cart into the sockets, to make it a bit more grisly.
I hung the bell on the top of the cart, as normal.
I'm still looking for something to pull the cart, I thought of cold-ones at first but they're too tall. I think that 3 of the Knights from my next box are going to be mounted onto Juggers, I'll use one or two of the leftover horses to tug it along.
Hey guys, I'm another new-to-fantasy player looking for a little advice on converting up warshrines. A good friend of mine suggested the floating rock idea and, while an awesome idea, it doesn't really fit my fluff. I have been building lists with the idea that the Warband has close ties with the Chaos Dwarfs and trades with them extensively, hence why they would have 2 Hell Cannons and everything wears Chaos Armor. Anyways, does anyone have an idea for a war shrine that would make sense to have originated with the Chaos Dwarfs? I had thought that some kind of Sorcerer/Priest on a platform mounted to the legs of a Defiler. However, I am concerned that it will be A)too futuristic looking and too big. The legs on that guy splay out something fierce.
Anyways, what do you guys think? Any ideas will be much appreciated
Shred an Empire Steam Tank. The thing has a boiler for crying out loud! Use the pipes and wheels and cogs and other assorted bits of chassis, and then mount things to the back of it.
A dreadnought from 40k would be cool, if you're willing to put a lot of effort into it. Cheaper too. Just cut away all of the sensors and other techy pieces and then paint him up wooden. There are pictures of wooden style dreads all over the place, and they look pretty awesome. A pair of close-combat arms and you're golden. Personally, I'd chop open the sarcophagus and chain an Empire Priest in there somehow, as though the whole thing feeds on his life-force. Have a pair of Marauders on the base tugging him along with chains, while being followed by the Hellcannon crewman with the wrench.
Now- that went from a $60 model to a $30 model, and skyrocketed, but I'm just thinking on paper right now, and it would look awesome. Especially if you maintain some sort of Chaos Dwarf theme through your entire army (lots of cogs and gears mixed in with their iconography).
If I had the money to format my army like this, I'd be all over it. Some kind of evil steampunk army from hell? Sign me up please!
Had a quick Idea yesterday... what about the semi old Empire Grand Theoginsit thingy ma bob.. its has pretty much a flat base with a potentially sexy looking sacrificial alter on also...
This guy makes some cool Chaosy chariot wheels.

They also do some very cool models. They were churning out warshrines when the army book first came, and they looked great!
The chaos obelisk they have is cool, too.
