Welcome to Librarium Online!
Apologies if this has been asked before, I'm fairly new (both to WFB and the forum) and I did have a cursory glance for the answer before posting.
My question concerns mounts for characters. Is it important what size base a mounted character is on? For example, I have the miniature for a Lord on Daemonic Steed but would like to play it as a Lord on Barded Horse (like a normal knight). Is this acceptable or is it prohibited because the Daemonic Steed has a larger base than a regular horse? I guess it's not a big deal, but I'd like to keep the lord as regular cavalry so he gets a "lookout sir!" roll from the knights he rides with.
As long as things haven't massively changed in eights edition, nobody will deny you using larger bases then necessary (it's hurting you more than him, after all), just using smaller bases is a bit iffy.
Respecting base size is of vital importance, as it changes many things. However, if you are handy with conversions, you came get the chaos lord on deamonic steed fit on a 25X50 base.
Maybe in a tournament they might care, you'd have to ask. As long as you aren't using it to help give extra ranks, then I can't see any reason why someone would care in a friendly game.
