    Where we stand in 8th

I know people don't like using a tier system, but for the sake of argument, where do WoC stand in the pecking order of armies, I suppose what tier they are is the closest thing I could equate this question to.

If a Million Guardsmen die, that's a statistic. If one marine dies, that's a tragedy.

Hmm this one is obviously up to personal opinion so here are my rankings...

    Tier 1:
    Daemons/Warriors/High Elves
    Tier 2:
    Skaven/Dark Elves/Beastmen/Ogres/Dwarves
    Tier 3:
    Vampire Counts/Lizardmen/Orcs/Wood Elves/Empire
    Tier 4:
    Brettonians/Tomb Kings

Let the flaming responses fly, and the debates begin....
5000 pts of WoC, 5000 pts of Orcs and now 3000 pts of Ogres...What was I thinking ????

Seems good, I'd just drop ogres/beastmen down and lizzies/VC up. Bother beasts and ogres got a huge boost, but ebastmen were by far the worst book in 7th edition. They had a pretty far way to climb.

From what I've seen, tiers would generally look like this -

    Tier 1
    Dwarfs / Skaven / Orks
    Tier 2
High Elfs / Dark Elves / Warriors / Daemons / Beastmen / Ogres / Empire
    Tier 3
Vampires / Lizardmen / Tomb Kings
    Tier 4
Bretonians / Dogs of War / Chaosdwarfs / Wood elfs
The Silver Knights of Tor Adrac (He): 26/2/4
The Spears of Slaanesh (Woc): 7/2/5
    Battlegroup Chalybso (GK): 7/3/3

Hm, I'd love to see what lists those orks have been using. Not trying to be mean here, but have played a couple of games against them with my WoC and DE and it's not even been close, the orks never stood anything even slightly resembling a chance at 2500pts

Edit: Note that it was against an experienced orc-general as well

Well when I ran my very first Orc list, against a High Elf player (Experienced) i'd already won by turn three, but back on topic, I think that High Elves, Warriors and Lizardmen stand on the top spot in my eyes, but again, it all depends upon the dice rolling, the competitiveness of your list and your opponents skill.

Orks have the ability to field large, efficient hordes, have access to above average T, and access to cheap siege weaponry - the three things that got more valuable in the 8th edition. (and having a low Ld isn't as bad in the 8th, as it used to be in the 7th).
But then of course, that's all theory, I just got back from my second game in the 8th edition (and killing bad WoC is still too easy as HE). I still wouldn't rank He tier 1 though, not with the giant "shoot me, I have no proper armor save"-sign on their backs, that is all T3.

With their magic ability, any important HE unit could and should receive shield of saphery (5+ ward). Our HElf player has a lv4 and lv2 and he starts the phase with shield of saphery on his most vulnerable unit. This usually means I have to spend dice to stop that and let his lv4 do as he pleases, or I let it go, which is what I usually do. Or they us a lv4 life mage and it doesn't matter that the unit loses models, because he brings them right back.
