Welcome to Librarium Online!
A friend and me are about to sign in for an upcoming dual tourney, where both players combine a 1.000 pts armylist into a 2K army. The rules for army building follow 8 ed rules, so max 25% hero/lord etc. Further rules are minimum: 1 character and 2 non-character units and no special/named characters, only 1 general and 1 bsb for the whole army. In the magic phase, the dice pool is shared.
My buddy will be playing his vampire counts. Maybe some of you have some tips on in what direction you would build your list based on the cooperation with VC and what to expect of opponent characters when maximized at 250 pts.
Well, if you're allying with VC's, he's adding some great utility to your army - in particular, Vanhel's Danse Macabre. To work well with this, I would leave the characters and BSB to his army - since you and him benefit wayy more from his Vampires + Vampire Lord than your Chaos heroes/lords. To counteract this, your Core units are much more powerful than his - make sure you're filling out the 500 pts core choice with a unit or two of Chaos Warriors - these will benefit greatly from the extra movement from Vanhel's Danse Macabre. I would try to avoid taking too much magic on your part too - the VC's characters will need the dice much more than you will.
Thanks for the tip, the dance will indeed get my warriors into combat very fast.
Regarding the 500 pts though, both armies have to respect their minimum slot of 250 points and max on lords/heroes 500 points...
