    Interesting challenging sorc lord

    For your consideration:

    Sorcerer Lord
    Distendable Maw
    Helm of Many Eyes
    Talisman of preservation (or something)
    Lore of Shadow

His unit charges the enemy, in the magic phase he casts Miasma to lower Initiative, then challenges an enemy Character an forces him to roll against his now lowered I or die.

Would be well complemented by an exalted hero with book of secrets who also casts miasma.

There are of course variations to this, but Distendsble maw and lore of shadow are central to the builds.

    Other variants would be appreciated!

    Sorcerer Lord level III
    Distendable Maw
    Law of Shadow
    Armor of Morrslieb
    Dawnstone
    Enchanted Shield
    Helm of Many Eyes

That should give you a pretty good chance of killing him outright but either Killing_Blow or Aethersword could really ruin your day.

On a different tack, what about...

    Sorcerer Lord level III
    Heavens [for the signature spell]
    Word of Agony
    Helm of Many Eyes
    Rending Sword
    Warrior Familiar
    Charmed Shield
    Necrotic Phylectery

Re-roll to wound from Word, Familiar, and Normal Attacks [which may get re-roll to hit too] since they are all during CC.

    That is potentially 6 str.4 re-rolls to wound, and 4 str.5 re-rolls to wound.

I think the bloodskull pendent would be better than the helm.

You start with 3 base attacks, that may or may not hit, the pendent gives you 2-3 hits already with KB and str8.

Might be hard to maximize the hits since sorcerers like to hide in corner of units.

Chaos Sorcs (especially Lords) don't have to hide in the corner. They have more attacks and a better save than the enemies they're fighting, base.

While he's not as awesome at challenges, I've enjoyed fielding a Sorc Lord with the chaos 'zerker sword and talisman of protection. Get him into position against 3 enemy, and rock 6 S4A. Since you don't "step out" during challenges anymore, you could still aim them at your unwitting target. I've knocked out many an enemy character with this guy in a BoRage unit.

I was more referring to not going nuclear and gutting a unit because you're sitting in the middle of said unit.

    @Viktor.
I love that sorcerer. It's beautiful to have a character who literally eats his opponents. Very nice.

Yes, and it's such a dirty trick. He can eat up just ANYONE (who is a man-sized infantry model), it's hilarious. Nobody sees that coming, it's too obscure. Omnomnom.

Otherwise, I find it usually is best to leave the fighting to real Lords and Heroes. You want other things on your sorc lord than weapons and armor, but just by having Lore of Shadow and Distendable Maw, you have that surprise coming. Against Dwarves it will be hilarious.

Now you just have to make the model...

Hey, it's distendable, so it should look just a regular... jaw. Ergo, I already have the model, ready to be sprung at my next unsuspecting oppongent.
