    New Orcs.

Right. Those Vermin have a new book and some new toys to play with. Now I've read the book cover to cover, infact, I HAVE the book. They have some new tricks and suprises that a new book always brings but there isn't that much to scare us.

Now I'm sure you'll have your own questions and fears about the new book and rumours you've heard so I'm here to answer them. Here's a few things that scared the Jebus out of me..........

    Mangler Squigs.
Now these sound absolutely disgusting. They inflict 2D6 str 6 armour peircing hits on a unit they travel through. They move 3D6 inches but are otherwise in control but after they hit their first unit they travel in a random direction.

You can't charge them. Oh no, but you can move a unit 'on' them. Just like Fantatics. However if you do you take an additional D6 hits (so 3D6 Str6 armour piercing). Then the Squigs Die

Now, how to combat them? Chaos Hounds!!! Remember they DIE if you move a unit on them so a piddley unit of 5 hounds can prevent this horror from getting to your Warriors and Knights. Simple, Job done.

    Big Spider?
Bah Don't worry. It's only Str5. 8 attacks with poison, one of which causes D6 wounds but str5 should worry us too much. Now it can be upgraded to carry a Lord Gobbo Shaman. This gives him Lore Master but, eh, no biggy. Or you can upgrade it to have a 'flinger' It's basically a str1 rock lobba but if it hits you your unit strikes last. This lasts for a whole turn. Warriors Striking last against hordes is gonna be annoying.

How to combat it? Enfeeble from Shadow magic can make the beast pretty much rubbish in combat. Other than that, just kill it like any other big beasty.

    Units of Chariots
Yeah, thats right. Goblins can take units of 1-3 chariots. Now these aren't girly Tomb King chariots. These inflict the full D6+1 Str5 Impac hits. A unit of 3 doesn't come close to 200pts so we might be seeing quite alot of these. You can fit 9 Chariots easily into 1500pts.

How to combat them? Er, don't let them charge you because it'll hurt. Charge them instead or block them off with Hounds. Terror is another good thing. They're only LD6 and not immune to Psych so a Terror bomb can be a good way too. Plus, if you kill one chariot they must take a Panic test on LD6. Not bad!!!

An Exalted on Disc can charge a unit and munch his way through them easy enough.

How are the Magic Items looking? I hear there are only 8, but they are all good.

Not that scary to be honest. Theres the Battle axe of the last Waaagh. That's like our Daemon Sword but better. D6 bonus to Str and attacks but half the dice score is minus to WS. So if you roll a 6. You'll have a Warboss with str10 Att10 but WS3. That's 100pts so you'll be getting no extra equipment to keep him alive.

The other funky peice of equipment is the Armour of Gork. Extra D3 toughness and you cause D6 impact hits. Quite cool but again its 100pts so no Ward save or magic weapons or funky gear. No protection against killing blow or poison.

A Chaos Lord will still have an Orc Warboss over his knee without breaking a sweat.

I played the big Spider thingy today - a few thoughts on it:
    1. The sheer size of its template will bring a huge grin to any war-machine crew.
    2. No regen, and a piddly armor save.
    3. Expensive

Basically its an overpriced point sink that dies after turn two. A Hellpit could eat two of them without even breaking a sweat.
    Sona si Latine loqueris.

Aye Big Spiders aren't that scary. At 290pts basic they aren't cheap. T6 with 8 wounds isn't easy to shift but against Warriors with Halberds it wont be alive for many rounds, especially as you can fit 6 warriors in base contact with it!

With Khorne you're kicking out 24 str 5 attacks. Hitting on 3's, wounding on 5's and it gets a 6+ Save. You should do 4-5 wounds a turn. It gets 8 str5 attacks plus stomp at WS4.
