Hey guys. I'm going to work on my shaggoth soon and really want to make his base a bit more impressive than I typically do. He has attached to his foot a stone he is already stepping on, with layers that are slightly jagged. I want to re-create that type of texture for the rest of the base. At first I thought I could get some of the same stone (I hear this is shale) but am not sure if I would be able to find any. today I saw something like that at my hobystore, but no one knew how they had done it. does anyone know/have ideas of how to create that sort of texture?
I think a blood-spleetered rat-swarm being crushed underneath would make a neat base.
Skaven fear the mighty Shaggoth since Warp Lightning from Doomwheels and Cannons only annoy him. Don't make him angry, you wouldn't like him when he's angry....
Sona si Latine loqueris.
I hadn't thought of treebark. I did think of using wood but have had trouble with the texture before since it can be pourus and the grains can show thru. I will definatly give it a try for the terrain blitze we will be doing soon.
I ended up using taking pieces of broke DVD and layering them in odd patterns. it managed the same layered effect I was going for the but surface is a little smoother than I had hoped for.it's already been primed but I am thinking or perhaps treating it with some chemicals to make it a little rougher.
Tuum that would be a neat base, tho not what I am looking for =)
Never thought to use the shaggoth on skaven but now that you mention it, that makes alot of sense.
Slate would give you a very similar look. It's what I use for my rocks and it looks rather nice. Due to it (originally) being a sedimentary rock you get the whole layerd thing going on.
You can pick it up at most hobby type places or steal it from peoples front Gardens like some naughty people do. *ahem*
