Welcome to Librarium Online!
I found myself curious about what you guys (and girls) use as your 'game winning unit', Be it a frighteningly well equipped lord or a unit specially geared to suit your tactics that always does what you expect it to?
So what I want to know is: what most often is the game winning/game changing unit or character or monster etc, that you use and what tactics do you adopt with it?
if you use equipment or special items please, do tell..
For my Marauder Army? It has to be Chaos Hounds.
The art of Blocking, charge redirecting and baiting has such an awesome effect. Pulling frenzied units out of line, getting units with Hatred/Frenzy to chase the survivors when I send them into combat and so on. Surrounding Death stars with units of hounds is great too. A unit of 18 Ogres you say? Ok well here’s 6 units of hounds, eat them and see if I care. Not only that you can play the deplyment game with them too.
I don’t think my Marauder army would be as effective without my faithful pups. I’ve just got so used to fielding 30 Hounds with the army I wouldn’t know what to do without them .
They are very rarely dramatic, but I love my Tzeentchian sword and board warriors. In my local scene they have quickly developed a reputation for being nigh immortal. The one unit that has been consistently effective against them has been my friends horde of bestigors. Other than that, Treason of Tzeentch is my favorite spell in the game. It simply butchers Sword Masters, big uns, or any big (steadfast) unit.
Warshrine of Tzeentch, expensive but very solid addition to any army.
It has blocked missles, protected the flanks from pretty much every Thunderstomping beasty out there, and makes it to the end of almost every game.
Sona si Latine loqueris.
i just 2 games today, 1 against deamons and the othe against wood elevs and omg, knights are sooooooooo good
the 1st game against deamons everything went wrong
it was a 2500 point game and the only damage i had done was killing a unit of 20 nurgle warrior things and reducing a unit of 20 khorne warriors thing to about 5
the rest of his army was fully intact and all i had left was 5 knights and my chaos lord
although the game went on for longer than 6 turns in the end i had a amazing come back winning the game
the best lord i think you can make is
chaos lord (mark of tzeentch)
axe of khorne, talisman of presvervation, luck stone, enchanted shild, demonic steed
this gives you a lord with a 3+ ward and, a 1+ save and S6 with killing blow and cant be killing blowed himself
as for wizards i always take a lvl 2 tzeentch with 3rd eye and infernal puppet
why spend all the points to take a lvl 4, let ur opponent spend the points and you just take all his spells
ok you dont get a +2 to dispell but you save like 150 points with this option
Shame you have 2 Talismans and you're over your points limit in Magic items.
The sorcerer build is the same I use and it's pretty dang awesome. Even at 3k he packs a punch and leaves some needed points for other goodies. Great against Daemons who take Lore of Life. Back at ya baby!
aww dam the luck stone is a talisman i thought it was an enchanted item
in that case give him favour of the gods
as for being over points
45 + 45 + 5 +5 =?
and i love it when people are cheesy and take lore of life as i get to be cheesy and have it also
also i use the attribute to no end as IMO its not a spell so therefore i can use it and it hasnt been FAQ'd
what my lord failed his 3+ ward, oh no wait he is back to full wounds
The Shield is 15pts. The price in the rule book is for armies that don't have them already listed in their Army book. At the moment that's only Orcs, Dogs of War and if you really want to go back the Chaos Dwarf list from Ravening Hordes.
As for life magic, It has been FAQ'd and we can use Lore of Life, well apart from the spell that heals units. Here's the FAQ (again) if you haven't read it. It's on page 4 and in pink
I'm the link to the FAQ. Click me.
cool, so i wasnt bending the rules lol
3rd eye and infernal puppet = best items ever
Blasted Standard on my Tzeech warriors minimizes one of their greatest weaknesses.
Mage lord of shadows with a spell familiar turns him into a hexing god. in the past 6 games I have virtually the same lineup of spells and always getting the ones i absolutly need.
