Welcome to Librarium Online!
I have a BIG game coming up this Saturday and thought it the prime opportunity to discuss Exalted Hero "Builds".
As one of my regular gaming group is moving on to pastures new we have decided to have a rather large battle to celebrate/commiserate.
It shall be my Warriors of Chaos and his Vampire Counts vs High Elves and Skaven.
Strictly for fun before any "[i]Spoil Sports[/]" question the legality of the Skaven/High Elf alliance...........
The Points Total of the game will be around 6000 per army now, having exhausted my Core Unit Model count i'm forced to add Exalted Heros to 2 Units of AHW Khorne Warriors.
(Obviously i'd rather take another 6 Warriors than 1 Exalted but that is not possible)
So without further ado, how do you like your Exalted's?
Tzeentch, Halberd, Talisman of Preservation (add Favor or Ironcurse Icon), or if that is already taken, the Armor of Destiny.
Str 6 with a 3++
Tzeentch, Halberd, Armor of Morslieb, Favor/Ironcurse and Talisman of Endurance.
Str6 with a 4+, 4++ and immunity to Killing Blow and poison
Tzeentch, Book of Secrets and Scroll/Collar of Khorne.
Cheap Shadows caster and scroll caddy/MR2 giver.
Nurgle, Palanquin, Stream, Enchanted Shield, some magic weapon.
1+ save with allot of attacks (4+6+2d6)
Crown of Command on a Chariot.
Charges a unit, if he doesn't win, he holds them there for the cavalry.
MoT/Pres/Favor/Halberd: the go-to exalted for solid hand-to-hand
MoT/BoS/Dispell/Shield: very versitile
MoK/Helm-of-Many-Eyes/Whip-of-Subversion/shield: really fun against low INI heroes
However given your opponents, I'd try this:
Sona si Latine loqueris.
The Talisman of Preservation is already with the Tzeench BSB, who, in turn, is with a Horde of Great Weapon Khorne Marauders with Festus for good measure.
Love the Helm of Man Eyes & Whip of Subversion combo. Just devilish.
Exalted, Slaanesh, Steed of Slaanesh, Sword of Corruption, Potion of might. Stream of corruption.
Run this chap with a cheap unit of 5 or so horsemen. Have him scout move into position to charge whatever big nasty of doom the opponent has. Then reduce the big nasty to a sniveling str2 toughness 2 slug of doom.
Exalted, Helm of many eyes, glittering scales, halberd.
I like this build. It's not amazingly durable but quite killy and very Slaanesh. ASF, str6 with -1 to hit isn't bad. I'm converting up a medusa style model for this build (hence the scales)
Another mighty slayer, very cheap too:
Flail/Armor-of-Morslieb [put him in a banner of rage unit for extra points saved]
Sona si Latine loqueris.
Book of secrets, Power Scroll. Use the powerscroll to miscast while in combat, have the puppet elsewhere to reduce to the lowest possible score and use the giant str 10 template to explodeinate stuff.
Ok, it's retarded. Come one, everyone else already said all the good ones =(
Nice idea, but that one is 10 points over his allowance.
Seriously nice idea, what about this then?
Exalted, Tzeentch, Book of Secrets, Charmed Shield, Opal Amulet, Stream of Corruption. @ 185
Run into a unit, and cast a spell (probably shadow Signature) with max dice and hope for a miscast.
Use Puppet to blow up big time.
Hopefully ignoring the first Miscast hit/wound.
I imagine you survive (unless you get sucked into the portal 'o doom).
Shadow Signature should be sufficient to reduce the opponents WS to 3 or lower, making them hit you on 5's (if you survived). The first of those 5's to wound you, will be ignored on a 3+ (if you haven't already used in on the miscast).
A 3+ and a 6++ to boot.
Use Stream as a finisher. But maybe it is wasted points, because kamikaze-man might die before he can use it.
Should be fun in a Tzeentch Marauder unit vs an elite unit (Swordmasters? )
I have a favourite exaulted, which you probably can guess the build:
Exaulted: Mark of Tzeentch, Disc, Golden Eye of Tzeentch, Flail, Stream Of Corruption, Dragonhelm, Shield
Rocks in at 199 points and is absolutely brutal against mar machines and small units of annoying fast cavalry - also is relatively safe against enemy firepower and the dragonhelm is lovely to reveal if somebody tries to hit you with anything that causes flaming damage.
This one I tried in a battle today, and served me very well
Exaulted: Mark Of Tzeentch, BSB, Book Of Secrets, Charmed Shield
Ths guy is a bargain giving a BSB and level 1 wizard (with +2 to cast) for a mere 175 points.
A handy supporting character for the main sorcerer - this guy can take the lore of shadow to get the miasma spell to chain with other lores, or simply reduce stats at an appropriate moment (reducing initiative against high elves always a favourite. "oh, you get to always strike first with rerolls? WRONG!")
You can also beef him up with weaponry too, if that takes your fancy, and dont forget that the shadow lore attribute can allow him to teleport into a useful situation if needed.
I have used the "Suicide Sam" build before with the book of secrets. Throwing 6 dice at a spell and using the charmed shield to negate that first Str 10 hit. It is an expensive way to destroy a unit of Elite warriors, but it is loads of fun seeing this guy break from his unit of Chaos Warriors to sacrifice himself in blazing glory. The really beauty of it is when he survives.... You can make up his points if you destroy some heavy duty knights, cold one riders, or lizardmen temple guard.
5000 pts of WoC, 5000 pts of Orcs and now 3000 pts of Ogres...What was I thinking ????
