going up against a player who make very good use of his high elf army, which includes a dragon with a prince and a few swordmasters. im only knew to WoC and my army is still a simple battalion box, i need an army that i can use to take him down a peg, any ideas?
Well your first problem is, like myself, you have a limit to which models you can use. I myself only have the battalion with an extra box of marauders and warriors. The thing is, do you have the money to pick up some more guys? I'd recommend getting either a sorcerer model or a chaos champion model, depending on what kind of army you want to play. Since hes going combat, this is good news for you. WoC's best strength is close combat: we dominate it. Our core choices are better than most other armies elites. So if hes bringing a dragon and a bunch of swordmasters, then meet him head on. Get a chaos lord with some fat character/monster killing gear, and stock up on your warriors to meet his swordmasters head on and just eat them up. How many points will the game be?
Or, while you're saving up to buy your models, and it's just a friendly 1v1 game at your or his house, you can do like I do sometimes, and just cut out grid paper the right size, and practice with it. Need a 6x3 unit of warriors? Use some 1-inch graph paper and cut out a 6x3 section, simply cross off the wounds as you lose them. Obviously, if you're going to be playing at a hobby shop or something perhaps this isn't the best idea
Yeah, that would work. I know that even at my hobby shop you can proxy models with almost anything haha (my friend played a game as WE and borrowed some of my marauder models to use a dryads)
money isnt any real problem but my ability to aquire a dragon myself isnt very good so if thats no issue then is should be fine with all of that. the games he and i usually play with other armies are 2000 pts so id imagine it would be the same
against HE i'd recommend 2+ chariots, and focus those against his swordmasters. Swordmasters are one of those things that eats chaos warriors for breakfast, so beeing able to deliever a bunch of impact hits before they get to strike is a nice way to decrease the size of his unit =)
against his dragon, I would try to shoot it with a hellcannon, or you could buy a cheap hero on a dics, and get him the whip of subversion. (maybe even helm of many eyes to negate his "reroll to hit" due to ASF and higher Initiativ ) if you survive the prince's initial 4 attacks, you can focus your attacks on his dragon (since you will strike before the dragon with your hero/lord) . if you make just 1 wound (which should be possible) you can direct all the dragons attacks against his prince instead of you =)

Now now lads. This is a forum about grown men playing with toy soldiers. Lets be adults please.
There is a literally a thread about this on the same page about 5 down, take a look there there are over 45 posts. . . . . .
Already visited that post and my friend's army is nothing like his so the advice wasnt helpful, especially to my playing style
VS the Swordmasters: Chariots.
VS the Dragon Lord: Chaos Lord of Tzeentch, Talisman of Preservation, Axe of Khorne, Dragon Helm. Maybe on a Disc.
Charge his lord or get him to charge you. Challenge, kill his Lord with allot of Killing Blow attacks. The Dragon has nothing on you.
