Welcome to Librarium Online!
I played my 1st game against dark elves the other day and so i had no idea of what to expect
My army consisted of 60 marauders, hellcannon, warshrine, 44 warriors, 4 units of marauder cav and then festus, wulfrik, sorcerer lord, chaos lord, bsb and exulted all in the warrior unit
I got 1st turn and moved everything up however not much happened
he then cast lots of spells doing some damage but not much
i then moved up again however my magic was uneventful with shooting even less so trying to do atleast 1 wound on a hydra but him passing his regen
he managed to get rid of my warshrine with pit of shades which sucked
the next turn was devestating however
my hellcannon charged his hydra beating it in combat and overrunning it and capturing it
i cast the -D3 strength spell on his 80 unit spearmen with level 4 wizard and then festus cast his curse of the leper with irrisistable force (bye bye unit)
he then charged his lord with his 9 unit strong cold one's into my warriors which were in a wood so not steadfast
my lord issued a challange getting 2 killing blows and and he rolled a 6 on his revers wardave at which point he called it game
prob the best game iv had, lossing 3 unit of marauder cav and vertualy wipping out his army
the only 1 iv had that was better was a turn 1 win against lizardmen without even moving which i found hillarious
Cool I myself had a 2.5k game vs dark elves last night. My army was Galrauch, Exalted Hero on Jugger, Level 2 Sorcerer, 20 Warriors, 24 Marauders, 10 Hounds, 10 Knights and 10 Chosen. Pretty much lost everything even tho chosen had divine greatness due to warriors fleeing and his army having two Hydras and lots of shooting. But Galrauch soloed a Master on a Manticore in round 1 with his attacks and one breath wep. He then flew over to his back line of 20 Crossbows, Level 4 Sorcerer and 2 Repeater Crossbows and stomped and breathed all round him chasing them off the board. The other gems were my 10 Knights with Blasted Standard, his executioners were fighting my warriors so he only had 10 shades and a unit of black guard to hold the flank were my knights stormed through slaughtering everything and running through his back lines to finish the game.
Marauders - Shot to bits, turned into gold then stomped on.
Exalted Hero - I thought a 0+ armour save would see him through to my enemies back rank but 2 Repeater Crossbows took him down off his high juggernaut.
Sounds like an awesome game!
I'm puzzled by his ward save, if he rolled a 6, he would have made the save. I assume you mean one?
Anyway, keep it up
@Cairnsy ; you can't have a 0+ armor save, it is capped at 1+
Another tip, he can't be singled out by bolt throwers! Only by cannons. So next time remember that and just take it with the unit (assuming he was in a unit).
No he was by himself, there was a unit of 5 hounds near him but I was gonna use them to take any stand and shoots from the crossbows but his 0+ ended up being a 3+ up I think from str 4 automatic hits at -2 to armour saves so both of the repeater crossbows pummelled him after he slayed 5 cold one knights in 2 rounds of combat.
@ maximus: the item is called a reverse ward save and so u fail it if u roll over th strength of the guy attacking you so if he is S3 then u fail it on a 4+ but if he is S10 then u only fail on a 6+ (6 always fails and 1 always passes)
to show how annoying this is a played 2.5k against a different dark elf player who ran his dreadlord on his own into my 40 block of warriors with 3 characters
being chaos we have the rediclious rule of always having to issue challanges and so i was stuck in combat with this dreadlord with the stubborn item
yea he held my entire army up on his own until i did the old trick of lowering his strength and then using festus to get rid of him which was so lucky as if i hadent i prob wld have lost the game
I know the item, I just figured it worked like Lothien stated.
A ward is a ward in my book, I think it is called a reverse ward because it is based on the str of the attack, not because it works the other way round.
I could be wrong here, but it seems that you mostly won due to lucky dice.... I'm not trying to be unfriendly at all, but the way you discribed the course of the battle...
My thoughts about it:
I think your army would be so much better if you split up some units. For example:
2 units of 30 marauders. 2 units of +/- 22 warriors. A characters in each unit and your power is better divided.
An unit of 22 warriors with an exalted in it is such a dangerous unit. Backed up by some (shadow?) magic and you should be able to win against allmost anything.
And IMO you have to many points in characters. 2 lord and 4 heroes in 3000 points... how many points do all 6 cost?
I think if you drop 1 or 2 (perhaps the chaos lord???), you could use the points for ... let's say, an unit of knights? / 1 or 2 chariots? / a second hellcannon?
With these few changes you should have an army that is better divided, but keeps the army construction you gave it (same types of units / characters / items etc.)
Hope it helped.
yea the 1st game was very lucky but the second was a better better
anyway i am considering droping some heros as they are very expensive but im not sure what to drop:
sorcerer lord - needed too much
festus - is too good to drop
bsb - needed too much
chaos lord - the only way to get a survivable and killy character however i may consider droping him
wulfrik - is kind of cool but not nesessary
exulted/wizard - either the only way to get a dispel scroll or another character
