I wanted to create my own BSB and I needed experience with green stuff, so I took a common warrior champion model and made him a BSB. I gave him tentacles because ... well ... I like them and I really wanted to bring the idea that the banner itself was alive to a whole new level.
This is my first time with green stuff which will be obvious to those of you who are pro's but here it is.
I know it's not up to the standards of some but like I said, this is my first shot with green stuff and it was alot trickier than I had expected. All in all though I like what I came out with.
Thanks for watching.
looks pretty cool, I think I will give Green stuff a shot!!!
It looks great! Well, ofcause it still needs some work, but the idea is very original and fits my view on the Warriors.
Awesome idea man, never thought of that. Greenstuff looks good for a 1st time effort, just go back over the creases with some more when its solid and you'll be laughing
Good stuff though, can't wait to see him painted *hint hint*
Thanks for the positive feedback so far.I'm feeling like the blob body of the banner itself needs something more, perhaps small tentacles or spikes?ofcause it still needs some workAh, great idea! Just patch up the creases, good stuff.just go back over the creases with some more when its solid and you'll be laughing
I'm sort of wishing I had just cut the banner holding arm instead of placing the tentacle around it, it makes the base tentacle appear too thick, imo. Ah well, live and learn!I really had never used this stuff in this way before, sure I had to use it to keep my wyvern from falling apart (OG) but you weren't supposed to see that stuff after it was used lol.Greenstuff looks good for a 1st time effortI'm going to have a heck of a time deciding on colors.can't wait to see him painted
I really like the idea, quite interesting!
You can prob add more detail to the tentacles (like suckers) with more greenstuff and use bitz from a spawn kit to give it more character.
Good first effort with greenstuff.
My first outing with it was pretty sad - I attached marauder horseman arms to a marauder infantry, then covered it up with a shoulder pad. lol
I assume Morgan Freeman is the voice of the Emperor.

That actually crossed my mind after I had started, I'm definitly going to do something with spawn bits, they would work out fantastically and they would give a level of detail that I don't think I'm capable of at this time.Originally Posted by ChaosLordUKI watch a ton of battle reports on youtube and painting guides too, I didn't know they had green stuff guides. I'll have to check that out.Originally Posted by tanfew
Looks good for a first shot. I agree with your hindsight, that you should've cut the arm off and pinned it somehow to retain the strength and provide a skeleton for the tentacles.
In the 3rd pic, I can see where the grasping tentacle meets with the flailing tentacle, and some of the "joins" in the GS to the plastic. This is an easy fix actually, just lick your finger and apply a little pressure to blend the two together. When attaching GS to plastic, you obviously start at the greestuff and pull it back towards the plastic for the blend- when working GS to GS, it's up to you how you want do it.
I think the blob needs a little more definition. Right now it's not quite a blob, and it's not quite a sphere. It just looks off to me. I'd try making it a bit smaller, and maybe tapering it down onto the banner somewhat. The tentacles holding the banner are HUGE, I thought that the blob was the top of a snake body.
Altogether though, your first time out with GS was a lot more brave than mine. I just put tabards onto some Space Marines. It looks good, and a little more practice will definitely pay off.
it really looks nice, and the tentacles are big, but sure aren't a misfit here
it's a BSB after all, chaos flows richly trough him
only the big round thing isn't what it should be
maybe some spikes and small tentacles will do great!
