I am playing a tzeentch themed army and focussing heavily on MoT infantry, but for extra hitting power I want to include some trolls. They seem to perform well in terms of rules as long as the general and bsb is nearby, but also because their "mutating regeneration" fits the theme of tzeentch.
What I want to ask you guys is what would you use for models when it comes to chaos trolls?
I don't like the old chaos trolls on gw website; don't like the looks and they are also quite expensive. River trolls are a bit cheaper, but still not the best looking in my opinion. Actualy thought about buying chaos spawns instead and use them for trolls, to make it look like they've mutated beyond recognition.
I need 6 trolls total, 3x2 formation. What are your ideas /opinions on troll models?
Unfortunately the best base for conversion is actually Gw trolls. Personally I'd see ifyou could get some from various places such as eBay friends etc, the ones you are looking for here are the ones from the old core set. Then convert them into tzeentch with greenstuff and other chaos bits.
Personally I'd get hold of wings from various places or even winged models and convert them up possibly with spare ogre arms and greenstuff to give a keeper of secrets style look to them.
Hope that helps
I don't know, I personally love the river trolls. And did you see the recent painting competition in which Viktor won? His trolls are the best converted trolls I've ever seen. I actually have to order two boxes of river trolls soon, I've been proxy'ing old ogre models but I want the real deal.
Perhaps using the river trolls and that chaos bitz/mutation pack?
I will drink your milk shake! I will drink it up!
I just bought my wife a mini-van, the gods of Chaos have nothing on reality.
Some trolls that are good looking (although they might be tough to make Chaos) that I THINK are the right scale are those from Lord of the Rings. They are good looking models, but they might not have the ascetic you are looking for
These are fine for friendly games, but due to a licensing issue GW won't allow you to use them for Warhammer in store and in competitions. The LotR have to remain entirely separated unfortunately.
