Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hey, so I was reading "(named) characters in units" thread, and Sigvald was brought up by a few people. I checked him out, and to be honest, his stats are not terrible, WS8, S5, ASF, and LD 10! He would actually make a pretty phenomenal
general for any WoC army, and I want to make a 3000 point list with him in it! Basically I'm wondering how would you incorporate him into your army? what units do you think would work well with him? Could he thrive best in a unit of chosen?
maybe in a unit of warriors!? or even marauders? What do you think he would need to be used to his full IMO untapped potential? Thanks!
I'd whack him in a Unit of Chosen with Favour and hope to get +1 str from a near by Shrine. Sigvald is great but his only weakness is his 'low' strength. If he was str6 he would be insane!!
LD10 is all well and good to make sure your BSB is near and having him and a unit of chosen Stupid at a crucial moment would be highly upsetting to say the least. Also, don't forget about his strider ability. He counts all terrain as open ground and so does his unit so that can surprise a few people!!
At 3k you should be alright. You can fit him and a Level 4 in comfortably.
I use him all the time and I agree, he is pretty immense. The only problem is the stupidity, a bad roll, although rare, could render him temporarily useless. So he is a minor risk, but IMO it's a risk definitely worth taking.

I would imagine he could do well in a large block of 50 Khorne Marauders with Full-Command/Great-Weapons for several reasons:
- Any unit of Khorne will need to take restrain tests to redirect, and Sigvald has the leadership for it [good reason to add a block of 6 trolls nearby too].
- The horde formation suffers the most from dangerous terrain due to its immense size.
- There is no single spell that can wipe an entire unit of 50 marauders off the map, the same cannot be said of 24 warriors.
- Huge 5x10 blocks are hard to flank charge, can afford to die in droves to elite units, and still obliterate an enemy worth double their points when they hit back.
PS - Tasilmanictattoo is so right! How could I forget Gateway! Although chances are very low....

Now you know thats not true, unless you haven't looked at the lore of tzeench before
I've used sigvlad once, against High elves to give them a taste of their own medicine. he did allright, nothing really special tho. He isn't like other characters where he seriously changes the rules/dynamic of the army, he's just basically a really well made chaos Lord and can be treated as such. I like the suggestion to field him in maraders, his ability certainly would make the unit easier to manuver, and he adds some character killy power (7 re-roll attacks is awesome), and his stuborn 10 makes the unit nigh-unbreakable.
But really, he's not *that* special. he has good stats, and a bunch of abilities you can get with normal magic items (tho not quiet so many on the same model). He doesn't make any special units core, he doesn't know any spells, he doesn't effect his unit except for the movement phase. he doesn't deploy funny or allow you to re-roll anything. he's meat and potatoes which makes him a little more versitile than other special characters, but not nearly as impressive.
i just can't really understand what he has:
a 1+ AS
a 1+ AS and regen
a ...+AS and regen?
It's right in his special rules - Eye of the Gods, Stubborn, Mark of Slaanesh (which is redundant with Stupidity as it also makes you ItP, but hey).
