So, I never see anyone field these guys. (as amatter of fact i never see MoN on anything)
How do they compair to the other common marauder builds (by common I mean the ones I usually see on the fourms)
40 with GW, MoN, musc and standard to 242pts a unit that can do damage and take less hits in return.
40 marauders with HwS, light armour, MoT, musc and standard comes to 282pts; (if I rember right parry only works in close combat) a unit that gets chewed up by shooting, wont kill much but dosent die in close combat.
40 marauders with GW, MOK, musc, standard comes to 242pts the unit with the most killing power but can be lead around and dies to a stiff breeze
I can see the uses for each of them but the MoN looks to have the best of both worlds.
edit: i take that back i have seen Knights with MoN and banner of rage.
Although MoN helps against some ranged attacks, it doesn't protect against template attacks - MoT does [as well as spells].
In CC, MoN is only good against WS2 or WS5 opponents [both of which are rare] - MoT works against everything saving 1/3 of your total casualties in CC.
MoK is fine, there are many tricks to stop your unit being baited [hounds/bsb/lord] and they will never panic to arrow fire, MoN will.
All in all MoN lacks the def, offense, cheapness of every other Mark - that's why I seldom use it on Marauders. Warriors on the other hand....

Mark of Nurgle is far more effective on Chaos Warriors than it is on Marauders. Offensively it can mean the difference between hitting on a 3+ or hitting on a 4+, but with regards to attacks coming back it can have very little effect as in most cases they are still being hit on a 4+.
Basically life sucks, there is only war and you're probably gonna get eaten by Tyranids, have fun.
If I were to run a MoT marauder unit with hw & shield combo, would you not be better off investing the 40 points from light armor into more marauders instead? I may be completely wrong on this, but is 5+ armor save better than 8 more marauders for your unit?
As for MoN, I don't like it at all, it's too expensive for such little protection, I don't even like putting it on my warriors anymore.

I would think you want a better save on your anvil so you don't take as many wounds in combat and give up combat res. More marauders makes sense when you go for the offense build because your damage wins combat, but with HW/SH your static res and ranks win you combat, every wound you take is going to negate that so less wounds taken = less combat res working against you. That is one way to look at it anyway.
MoN isn't so hot anymore, it works very well against spesific armies and units, but i've only considered it for warriors. i can see it being much more limited in use on marauders. generally its better to take stuff that is going to work good in any situation, since most tournaments or leuges work on random opponets, but it's also good to have stuff around that you can bring out when you know who you are up against.
Nurgle is the most overpriced of the 4 Marks overall, and to boot it's much less useful on WS4 T3 Marauders than it is on WS5 T4 4+ armor Warriors. Marauders die - it's best to just accept that, bring a big block of 'em, and have them act as a semi-guided cruise missile. I've seen Tzeentch Shield Marauders in play, and I've been profoundly unimpressed - we're not an army that's in need of anvils, and a handful of S3 attacks doesn't hurt anybody. Fights in Warhammer are won on offense.
