I have been preping for a 3000 point Storm of Magic game and now I am wondering: Are there any Mythic artifacts that are extremly good for WoF? What do you use? Any sneaky combos or dirty tricks?
I am right now leaning towards the Wind Catcher Prism. It seems rather cheap (For artifacts) for a good effect.
THE best storm of magic hero ever.
mark of tzeentch
disc of tzeentch
talisman of preservation
book of secrets
blood of tzeentch
At equilibrium (which you start at) he has 10 attacks that hit and wound automatically. he flies, has a 2+ armour save and a 3+ ward save. he is a caster so he can take fulcrums from your enemy, blood of tzeentch allows you to actually cast then when you get double 6's you can just re-roll one of the 6's to avoid the nasty d6+1 miscast.
this guy tears up the battle field. even at presence he hits auto and is strength 5 so wounds pretty easy. at dominance he gets auto hit and wound plus each wound is 2d6.
not even the base 3+ ward save will stop this guy from killing wizards off of fulcrums.
Couldn't it become even nastier if you added Third Eye to for more spell choice?
in storm of magic i find it much more prudent to give third eye to a higher level caster, book of secrets is only +1 to cast. if you have a level 2 tzeentch, he gets +3 which helps because not only do you get the normal spells but you get the cataclysm spells, and getting 20+ to cast spells off is hard for a level 1.
plus the only real reason to give him the book is so he can take and hold fulcrums, his casting should be used only when you have extra dice, i usually just give him fire and then fireball something with any extras.
I now have to agree after a bit of thought.
If you are going to take the Dawnstar Sword it should by a dedicated fighty character to hunt monsters and seize fulcrums. Don't bother with making that character a sorcerer either you have dedicated sorcerers for that who do the job better than him. Give him the Tricksters Shard as well. If you don't have enough sorcerers take a Dark Emissary or Fimir Balefiend.

I have already taken a Thruthsayer to get my favorite lore: Beasts. S6, T4 Marauders is wonderous. So is T7 Warriors.
With a bit of thought I do have enough sorcerers.
Beasts is good for Chaos. I use a beastmen shaman to represent a truthsayer in my army.
As for spellcasters you want at least 3 level 2's.
We will play a two on two game next weekend with my group and right now it looks like we all will go overboard with casters. I am bringing at least two LVL2s, a LV4 with additonal spell, the truthsayer earlier mentioned and that lord. I am alittle unsure on the exact numbers for my ally and opponents BUT the empire player has bought five boxes Empire wizards, and my vamp ally is painting necromancers like crazy.
I'd say life is one of the best lore for WoC, especially against vampires. Let them have a taste of their own medicine - 20pt chosen coming back to life, MWAHAHAHAHA. Not to mention, if they somehow manage to wound that single model deathstar listed above, it's always better if you can heal him rather than risk losing 500+ points from a few bad rolls. Oh, and just watch them try and kill t8 chosen or t10 hellcannons!
