I've recently been attempting to create a monster list after receiving some feedback from other posts. I'm trying to make a competitive monster/infantry list. Quite frankly....I suck at.
Here's my first half-baked attempt;
Stream of Corruption
Tailsman of Preservation
Will be going death/shadow with these guy.
Throgg, The Troll King
Wulfrik the Wanderer
Mark of Tzeentch
Chaos Trolls (10)
Chaos Trolls (7)
Warriors of Chaos (19)
Mark of Tzeentch
Mark of Khorne
Sorcerer lord goes into the warriors block. Not sure where to put the level 2 at the minute. Throgg goes with the 7 man troll unit. 10 man troll unit is 2x5 in rank.
As previously stated I'm not very good at thinking of monster lists. My next try is at a Chosen-Star list. Any input on this one would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry I've posted this in the main forum instead of the army list section. My mistake. Apologies.
It happens to new forumites all the time, don't worry. Maybe a mod will move it for you. Then BAN YOU! Just kidding.
The main thing this army list lacks is a BSB. When you have two stupid units at Ld 8, the re-roll is CRUCIAL in order to avoid unfortunate failed rolls and 17 trolls herpaderping. Stastistically, Ld 8 without a re-roll is a 72% chance of success while a Ld 8 with re-roll is 92% chance. Huge difference. In order to find points for that, you could drop that second sorcerer. Personally, I let my BSB multi-task by giving him the book of secrets and a dispel scroll. Dispel scroll is necessary, don't get rid of that one - sooner or later someone will throw a pit of shades or purple sun at your Trolls, and you cannot let that happen at any cost.
If I were you, I would use Shadow on the SorcLord. The shadow spells will complement this army nicely, especially the signature spell since both the Trolls and Marauders have relatively low WS - lowering the opponents WS below your own when you have high str attacks will massively increase your damage output! Personally, I run Lore of Heavens on my SorcLord and lore of Shadow on my BSB - but that's a little more advanced and probably not the best for this particular army.
Blasted standard is great, shooting will not touch this army except for the marauders - and they come in from behind! Question is if the enemy will focus everything on the Trolls and ignore shooting at the Warriors, they will have to do an all-or-nothing decision because of the mutant regeneration rule. If you want to you could try taking out the Marauders and Wulfrik in favor of another big unit of chaos warriors, they will never let you down. Should be fun using Wulfrik though, and with the Trolls advancing that fast he has a good chance of arriving about the same time as they to the enemy lines - and the line of battle will generally be closer to the enemy table edge because of the Trolls getting there so swiftly (if you face a close combat army).
Warhammer Fantasy: Warriors of Chaos, High Elves
Warhammer 40k: Eldar, Space Marines, Orks
Viktor pretty much covered everything, but if I were you I would give my sorcerer lord charmed shield instead of the enchanted shield, it's a cheap way of avoiding a nasty hit.
