I was talking to someone about using a Chaos Lord of Tzeentch on a Disc for extremely early contact with the enemy. Giving him a solid armour/ward save and the Crown of Command could mean you're hitting your opponent faster than he expected for a Warriors of Chaos army and probably not budging when you've slammed into his lines. If you're not charging on turn two at the absolute latest, you're doing something wrong. Throwing this guy into your opponent's mages or battle standard bearer could net some tasty rewards. What do you guys think?
- Mark of Tzeentch
- Disc of Tzeentch
- Crown of Command
- Talisman of Preservation
- Enchanted Shield
- Biting Blade
- Word of Agony
1+/3++ save, five S5 attacks with -3AS.
I was particularly thinking about throwing this guy into my Teclis-wielding opponent's face. I figure that the Word of Agony can be used before challenges ("Once per game, at the beginning of the Close Combat phase..." BRB, p.110) so even if Teclis would normally refuse the challenge you have to issue, the Word of Agony has an extremely high chance of killing him straight off. I rather suspect that a combat-oriented Lord has a better chance of dealing specifically with Teclis than does a magic-oriented character. I don't plan to play him at his own game.
More generally, I figure that this character has a massive chance of killing pretty much any character he comes across and weathering the return attacks from whatever unit he ends up plowed into, holding them up long enough for support to arrive in timely fashion from the hordes of Chaos Warriors, Chaos Knights and Chaos Marauders that are roaring across the battlefield. He should do a nice job of disrupting enemy advances across the table.
If your friend is playing Teclis that much your better off just taking Scyla and setting him on a collision course with the elven tea towel. He is only just over 100pts as well so would be a cheaper option and he only takes up a rare choice.

Makes a lot of sense, but I'd make a few changes:
1. Swap the Enchanted Shield for a regular shield and Dragonhelm [it will cost a bit more, but the nice thing is you get a 2+ save vs Flaming attacks Fire/Metal/Weapons] = same armor, a bit more versatile.
2. Word [S4 D6] is good, but why not Stream of Corruption [S3 -1 armor 2D6!] instead?
Overall the cost is the same, but you have far more versatile protection, and more chances to kill with the one-off hit gift.

i don't think it works so well, lone characters are generally a bad idea. rushing your general out in front of your forces alone has many risks. While the gear you equip him with does offer him a lot of protection, he only has 3 wounds.
Statistics and avrages say he should be OK for most rounds, but sometimes you will roll over and sometimes under, and in this situation the two will not balance themselves out. In a best case scenario you pop a few wounds and stick around. in a worst case scenario you are gone. for almost 500 vps that is so not worth it.
If you wanna get jiggy with it, try marauder horsemen of khorne with flails in large numbers. you will get the ability to charge turn 1-2 for sure, and you can do comparable damage for far less points, and no challenges at all so you can allocate your attacks freely.
I use this a lot.
I run 3 discs in one of my regular use armies, a chaos lord a lvl2 sorc and a BSB all on discs.
my build is:
Disc of Tzeentch
Talisman of Preservation
Crown of Command
Stream of Corruption
1+ AS, 3+ WS. Stubburn on a 9.
This guy is badass. I take stream of corruption over word of agony because I like to put him into units of ligh tinfantry and just explode them and try to get an overrun so im in the back by turn 2-3.
I held up a bloodthirster with dark insanity for 3 rounds with this guy before i rolled a crap load of 1s and 2s
this guy is very good vs daemons. Skulltaker and flamers are both flaming attacks so 2+ wardsave.
The problem with Stream for this tactic is that it will target the 'unit' and not the specific Character. Word of Agony just targets one bloke. It's risky though as you're only doing D6 hits at str4 which is not a sure way of killing a T3 3W model. Teclis might have Stone to flesh etc running as well and then you're chances are even slimmer.
Scylla is pretty awesome for the points but tends to get munched by shooting attacks as T5 and a 6+ Ward will only get you so far. He also has to challenge to wont be getting to grips personally with Teclis either.
If you want Early disruption, what about a Slaanesh Exalted on Steed? He's Fast cav and still pretty killy........ but then so is a unit of Horsemen.
I've re-written my 3,000 point list with this character in it. If you guys could take five minutes to comment, I'd massively appreciate it!
