Okay I usally figure these things out on my own but now I have drawn a blank. How cna WoC effectively beat up a tooled up Slaan With their forsaken bodyguard lizardz. I have hammered them with loads of stuff ranging from Knight Deathtrains to Marauders. Is it just my opponent who is Annoyingly lucky or is there a secret technique?
I could see a solid block of khorneate chosen with halberd's and a warshrine to back them up deal a decent amount of damage to a unit like that.
I think your best bet at taking down a slann is lore of death, and if you keep your lord inside your chosen bunker as you approach the impending combat cast as many spells on that slann as possible.
Make sure your packing a dispel scroll and infernal puppet, these can both help you out a lot.
Yeah. That could work.... Now I feel kinda dumb.
It sounds simple enough on paper, but the truth is a slann is hard to take down no matter how prepared you are for it.
The lizardmen magic phase can go unchecked and that's when things get scary..not only that, but chances are if he plays lizardmen like I do, he'll be taking a dispel scroll or cube of darkness with his slann as well, possibly shutting down your magic phase for the turn.
Tooled-up Chaos Lord on a Chaos Dragon? Flank charge with a unit of 10 Chaos Knights.
Hellcannon on the head is always fun, no LoS for Slaan. ^^

Antithesis: He makes 'em etheral. Hellcannonshots arent magical oddly enough.
El_Don: He blasts the Dragon down with magic from his Skinks and Slaan before they can close. Same for knights.
Does any army have good chances on taking down the Slaan freaks.

Slann gets LOS, he counts as infantry too. It's not the base size, it's the troop type. I know this because my Skaven list has definitely turned a Slann into a rat before. Hilarious.
Anywho... Purple sun can be wonderful against lizzies, but you can't rely on magic. Hit that unit hard, our khorne halberds beat his guys in a fight, another unit of ours is icing on the cake. Becalming Cogitation (you discard 6s on casts) is gonna shut down your magic, but remember that in a straight up tussle we beat lizzies. Those temple guard are almost as costly as khorne halberds and are lacking in the WS and init departments.
Also, another cute rule thing: his TG HAVE to use halberds, they can't use HW/S. 8th says that if you have a cooler mundane weapon than a HW, you MUST use it. Which means he's 4+ armor, not 3+ with a parry. Sure he's hitting at str 5, so it's hardly a game changing disadvantage, but most lizzies want to bunker that unit, so that will be an overall loss for him. They will die faster.
Fear me, mortals, for I am The Anointed, The Favored Son of Chaos, The Scourge of the World. The armies of the Gods rally behind me, and it is by My Will and by My Sword that your weakling nations shall fall. - Archaon, The Everchosen, Lord of the End Times
If that doesn't work, when he is not looking smash his model with a hammer. Deny everything.
"my heart pump gangsta"
Brock: I aint sure I can tie up two units in that fight. We are both good generals and our armies are roughly as good. He supports it with other units and Salamanders.
Fruit: I would have already if it wasnt such a lovely conversion and paintjob...
