OK SO -
Tons of Archaon questions! Well just a few.. also a question about Malekith, which this is mostly about Archaon so I'm posting it here, maybe it should go into the rules help forum, if so sorry! -
1st Question - Does Archaon get the benefits of a mark if he joins a unit with that mark? First, Archaon has no marks, the army book specifically says hes "chosen of the gods". Not that he bears any marks.. therefore there would be no violation of them stacking. Second, when I pay for a mark, I pay it for the whole unit, which I would think would give it to characters joining the unit. However, "fluff wise" it seems silly that ARchaon would get the benefit. I mean, when he joins the unit, does he get a mark tatooed on his head, then when he leaves, it vanishes? Book seems to say he gets the mark, common sense of reality seems to say otherwise (common sense of a reality that is fictional is pretty stupid concept tho ). If he gets the benefits, he could potentially have his ward save increased to +2 while in the unit, etc.
2nd Question - Give the context of the above question, would he benefit from a magical standard in that unit too? Would he get Frenzy from a banner of rage etc? (Immune to psychology does not say that it effects frenzy).
3rd Question - Archaon wields a pretty awesome sword. It ignores armor, and has a deamon inside. This tells me, again in "fluff common sense of reality (as silly as that is)" the sword would be a magical weapon. Hell, the picture of him has orange lightning on it. But anyway, if this is the case, and it is a magical weapon, does it provide magical attacks? Could Archaon kill ethereal creatures?
4th Question, regarding Malekith VS Archaon - In the context of the 3rd question, if Archaon has magical attacks, would Malekith benefit from his "+2 ward save against NON-MAGICAL attacks" when being struck by Archaon? I would think no if I use an interpretation of fluff, and the rulebook to advantage Archaon. Meaning, it makes sense fluff wise his sword is magical, thus causing magical attacks, which according the rulebook Malekiths save only helps on non magical, so would be useless against Archaon. This seems like a stretch, but its possible and I need to know considering I primarily play a DE army.
5th Question (semi detailed in the previous question) - Do magical weapons cause magical attacks, specifically? Even if Archaon is deemed as not having magical attacks, what about Chaos Knights? Their ensorcelled weapons specifically state they are magical weapons. So would these magical weapons evade Malekiths ward save of +2?
6th Question, Malekith only - Does Malekith's +2 ward save against non-magical attacks protect him against misfires? I would think no, a misfire is not directly an attack and it sure as hell seems magical but I want to check, my opponent thinks it would. And again, does Malekith's ward save protect him against magic weapons?
Thanks guys and again I'm sorry if these are in the wrong spot, but I'm a WoC player and these are mostly WoC related and I only wanted to post once seeing how they all tie into each other.

1. A unit is a unit and Archaon is Archaon, they have separate marks. If a character joins a unit, he doesn't get the mark of it.
2. If a magic banner affects the unit Archaon is in, then yes, it affects him.
3., 4. & 5. Archaon's sword is magic weapon, it has magical attacks. His Swords too (as any knights, except with lances).
6. Misfire is not an attack, so no. Magical weapons have magical attacks, so yes.
Ty for your response! Quick too
But I have a question in response, I think you goofed up on #6. The latter half of your response responds to the latter half of #6 which would be "And again, does Malekith's ward save protect him against magic weapons?"
You state that "magical weapons have magical attacks, so YES". Which seems to mean that because they do have magical attacks, then Malekiths wardsave WOULD save him. However, the rule says against NON-MAGICAL attacks. So did you actually mean what you wrote, or did you mean: "magical weapons have magical attacks, so NO"
Sorry If I am misunderstanding but your premise as to why Malekith would save against attacks seemed invalid to your conclusion! A simple typo?
Yes, sorry, I misread something or didn't think. It doesn't save him from Miscast, of course, and also not from magical weapons, so his Ward wouldn't work on Knights.
And also if the unit has the banner of rage Dorghar gets an extra attack as well

Mostly already answered but im putting all mine in anyway
1) Archaon does not benefit from a units mark.
2) Archaon Would benefit from a banner (plus his mount).
3) His sword is magical, so are the knights ensorcelled weapons, so both would be able to hit ethereal troops.
4) Malekith would get NO ward save vs Archaon, or his knights.
5) See 4).
6) By misfires I assume you mean Miscasts? since he is a wizard. The answer is No, the BRB-FAQ says:
Q: What are ‘magical attacks’? ( p68 )
A: All attacks made by spells and magic items are considered to
be magical attacks, as are all attacks that are specifically noted
as being magical attacks. Shots fired from magical items are
also considered to be magical attacks, unless their description
specifically states otherwise. Hits inflicted by rolls on the
Miscast table are treated as magical attacks.
PS Archaon is the man. He should make quick work of Malekith as he would get no armour save or a ward save vs his attacks.
Yeah, really Malekith's only hope of beating Archaon in a fight is to get lucky and eat his magic sword first round. Otherwise he's pretty boned. And watch out for dark elf players, they are notoriously fast and loose with the rules.

Yeah, chances of getting the sword are pretty slim though.
first the has to roll a 4+ to get Something at all. Then he has to roll another 4+ to get an item instead of a magic level. THEN he has a 1/4 chance to get the sword.
Ill put my cash on Archaon anyday
!Loose math rounding up!
Malekith does have higher initiative, he only has 4 attacks and 3 wounds, hitting on 4's with a hatred re-roll averages 3 hits, wounding on 4's averages 2wounds, with a 3+AS/3+WS vs him he should only get 1 wound through a round if hes lucky and you are not.
then hits back 10 attacks hitting on 3's = 7 hits, wounding on 3's = 5 wounds, no armour save, no ward save = dead.
Archaon 1 Melekith 0!
Heheh I like your guy's enthusiasm lol
Anyway, throw malekith in with a BlackDragon and it evens up a bit maybe?
Thanks for all your help on my questions!
How does Archaon ignore ward saves? I thought it was only armor.
