I ws looking into a khorne list and suddenly it struck me. There is an itme in the BrB called the Wizarding hat which gives me a character 2 wizard levels. But it is 100 pts so that means no ward on him but couldnt that be worth it in the end? Instead of having to break the theme you get a slightly more frail lord but bunker him in the back with some chosen and then line up TONS of naked marauders in front and try to steamroll the oponent. Might not be a perfect strategy but for Mono-Khorne? So am i seeing things or is this a posiible build?
But you're still breaking the theme, are you not? It is written that Khorne despises any magic, and likes only magic weapons. Hat is hardly a weapon, and character becomes wizard. I'd say that Dark Emissary is closer to theme, they are favoured among Northern tribes (as it was depicted in Mark of Chaos, both book and game), and you can just load him with puppet and dispell, to counter your opponent's magic. And there is awesome old model for emissary: Dark Emissary | Games Workshop
Arent dark emessaries only acessiable in SoM? I was planning on thinking of the spells as Prayers. Sorta like the stuff those Sigmar priests do.
That is a better idea.
But after looking over the Khorne section of Libra Chaotica I thought of war priests of Khorne and will probably run a fighty LvL4 instead.
In a lot of books its said that all men of the north respect Oracles of the Gods, an unmarked sorcerer could simply be that, a vessel the dark gods will is done through, even a Khornate would think twice befor offending the gods.
PROUD TO BE IN THE BRITISH ARMY.
~~ Surrender and serve me in life, or die and slave for me in death~~
I know it's dredging up an old thread, but I was re-reading my original slaves to darkness rulebook the other day, and in it Khorne could have wizards. The fluff was great in that to keep the theme, what happened was a khorne sorcerer lost all of his spell ability. Back in the 3rd ed, a wizard rolled for how many spells he got, and so the khorne sorcerer gained that number as dispelling magic. So, convert that into 8th edition it might go something like this;
A wizard so full of hate and rage gives himself to the dark power. Khorne bestows his blessing upon him, for any creature that is willing to give up the book and staff and take up the blade and shield in his name is welcome.
However, the dark god realising that magic is a great obstacle to his armies takes his magic turning it into a weapon against magic.
so, either instead of spells he has dispel scrolls, which can be cast as a normal spell, or alternatively, which I would love to see, roll winds of magic, and essentially have a huge pool of dispel dice. Perhaps even allowing say the MR to be such that it acts as a ward against irresistible force- even against a teclis cheeseboard.
In this effect, he can allow bound spells to be got off, and shield his army whilst they are marching across the field, but most importantly allowing a mono khorne army to be a real viable option.
A level 1 wizard with a dispel scroll and collar of khorne on a daemnonic mount - that fits the theme and offers you a measure of magic resistance as well (plus your macig phase doesnt get totally wasted.
I really hope in the new book they redo mark of khorne and give + dispel numbers (eg a hero is +3 and a lord is +5). /that would give some proper help against enemy magic instead of magic resistance which is largely useless against all the buffs and hexes which domninate the game.
This got me thinking, If we had a mono khorne list without sorcerer, am I right in saying we can't even take an item with a bound spell in it, say Banner of Wrath? because don't we need a caster in order to generate a dice pool for any bound spell?
