I got all my chaos trolls today, 9 of them, and made one into Throgg for a unit that is 3x3 including Throgg. What do you think of what I did? I used the trophy racks from a daemon prince, greenstuff for the crown and spikes from a Galrauch, then I used a head from a Giant set, and the skulls hanging from his neck. The shields under his foot will be rocks (I didnt have anything else lol).
Here we go! -
Anything to change?
Looks pretty good. I'd try to get that crown to sit a bit lower on his head - you might have to trim off some metal there to make it look right. Otherwise he seems good - the base will look nice once you've got it finished up, and the trophy racks were a neat addition.
Looks swell but I agree with the captain about the crown.
I will take a look when I get home. Hopefully it isn't to dry lol. When I did it it looked like it was right on top of his ears but the pic doesnt look that way. I'll have to see what I can do. Any other tips?
**Okay just messed with it. It was pretty dry and hard to do much because I added glue to it to make it harder quicker. But I moved it down slightly. Anymore and it looks like it will cover his eyes... Heres two new pics -

I would add some tusks, just because I like tusks. Additionally, green stuff an extra mouth or two on his body/legs with a tongue coming out and teeth surrounding it, the Nurgle effect ya know. I feel like the crown is lacking a little, not sure if your going to add more detail later on, but if you could simulate gems socketed in it, the crown would be amazing. I like the Trophy racks, Never woulda thought of that even though I have a set sitting in a box neglected.... All in all though, it looks pretty awesome,

Hmm... I'm not that great with fine detail in green stuff... What about gluing skulls onto the crown? In between the spikey things? As for mouths... How can I do that with greenstuff.. That seems like it would be really cool but damn I am not that good lol
How would I do gems on the crown? Just paint?
Skulls would look great in my opinion (a lot easier to), just as long as there isn't a ton of them. The idea I had of making the gems would be to just carve what looked like sockets in various locations on the crown, or add something that looked like a cut gem on top of the already existing crown, with a basic setting holding it (use some very small diameter metal rod)
As for the chaosy 'mouths' you can either try and sculpt it out of two small 'snake' like pieces of green stuff attached to the model, smooth the outside edges so its flush with the skin, then sculpt in some teeth in the inside area with the inside 'lip'. For a tongue use some more small diameter metal rod, bend it in the shape you want, then form some green stuff around it till you get the shape you want, let it dry then attach. It sounds a lot harder than it is. I'm also no expert so I'm sure others will have better ideas. I can make a tutorial on the mouth for you next week and post it here thought if you'd like.
Now that I think about it, a pile of skulls on top of his head would look pretty awesome to. but definitely not necessary.
I'd add something to the crown, since its rather an open space . Skulls are rather typical, and chaotic, but there's always room for something "interesting" .
Okay cool so, maybe add mouths (if you want to do a guide that would be really cool), tusks, and skulls to his crown. I looked at the Throgg pic in the book and he does have pretty substantial tusks so that sounds like a must to me. I'll get on it Thanks for everyone's help!
