Can anyone recommend, or share a Tzeentch warrior color scheme they particularly like? Conversions?
I am trying to keep my army pretty dark, so I don't want to go overboard with bright colors. However, I would like them to be distinctly Tzeentchian, even if it's just subtle heraldry, or a tint to the armor.
Eventually, I would like to build towards a single united force, with clear but not distracting definition between those dedicated to different powers.
There needs to be some unity, and some hints of individuality.
Subtle but distinct is key...
With my tzeentch army I paint all armour plates enchanted blue, wash in storm blue and dry brush with mixes of enchanted bluesnd ice blue up to pure ice blue.
I then paint the trim in shining gold with a flesh wash for depth.
Accents in either black or bone.
Cloth I keep to dark greys and black.
Classic and simple, works for me.
That sounds good. Do you have any images?
Alas, I have no pictures. I could possibly sort some out though.
I paint my models with black armour and then the head and shield the colour of the God, in this case blue, it keeps the unit uniformed and the army uniformed as well as allowing you to choose the shade of the colour you want.
I use a similar colour scheme as seth-ra does. Biggest difference is that I wash in purple insted of blue, i find that it makes for darker shading in the cracks and also allows for a greater diversity in the color blending up to enchanted blue mixed with white/silver.
But, I also have a pic!
I just painted mine in a Dark metal. The original plan was to have the Chaos Space Marine Tzeentch banners and to paint lots of runes on the sheilds and armour. Then do a blue glow to the weapons.
Alas, because I'm lazy and I forgot about the banners whilst I was making them, none of this happened so they just look undivided-ly dark. When I get back to my Bitz ox though I'll get those banners on though!
Sorry to hi-jack, but I'm very proud of my nostogic army. My ultimate goal is to one day fiend an entire army that isn't recognizable as official GW as it's just too old. maybe another decade or so should do the trick.
Hehe, I like doing that too although I can't do it to the same scale unfortunately. I have a Chaos Sorcerer from 1987 and people get confused when they see him. Even had a GW staffer say I can't use him as he isn't a GW model! Damn child!!! I still have the old sorcerers from that era as well as 2 of the Mounted Lords, the one with the stupid horns and the cool horse.
I only have around 30/40 of the old Warriors (10 are now Forsaken!) and about 20 of the old Marauders. I did have more Warriors somewhere but the Marauders I only bought for Chariot crew *Sigh*. The wonders of hindsight eh?
Thanks for the feedback - While I do like that color scheme in some places (My 40k Marines are similar), I think I am leaning towards either all black armor with accents / details to denote mark, or a dark dark tint of the god's color. something almost black but with noticeable tint in the highlights.
Probably I'll go with black / brass wherever possible because I just like the look of it for these minis. Just need to find the balance of being subtle with the accent colors, and not going so subtle you can't identify them quickly on the field!
If anyone has links to different color schemes I could pour over, I'd love to have a look.
