Having trouble with skaven

I have a game next weekend vs my brothers plague monks army and the last three times I've played them, I get smashed by all of the toughness test no armour saves I have to take.

Anyone know any good units to combat these guys?
He has:
2 big units of plague monks, 1 with the plague furnace and the general.
2 units of censer bearers.
A few units of slaves, giant rats and clan rats.
And some shooting stuff (catapult etc.)

I can handle the shooting stuff and the clan rats/slaves etc. but I'm getting hammered by the censer bearers and the plague monks/furnace.

Please help. Need to smash these little pests and shut my brother up.

Yeah, Skaven is a pain to fight, no question.

10 Chaos Knights, MoT/Blasted and an Exalted with Collar of Khorne/Sword of Might/Shield/Favor of the Gods

2 units of censer bearers.

Ram a chariot or two into them.

A few units of slaves, giant rats and clan rats.

Marauders in blocks of 18 will ruin their steadfast.

And some shooting stuff (catapult etc.)

Magic.

A sorcerer with Third Eye is great vs. plague magic - wither on Plague Monks will ruin him. Also, make sure he is following the special rules with plague censers.

If you have a Shaggoth, this is the best possible army for him to fight.

you could try shooting into his ranks with a hell cannon - forcing terror rolls on him with every blast.

Ya, but a fair amount of the Plague units are frenzied, and so are ItP.

A disk sorcerer with 3rd eye will work great here, as will trolls. Also, out ubiquitous Shadow sorcerer can work great here combined with either (or both) of Festus and the 3rd eye. Both Wither and Curse of the Leper can bring a target to toughness 0 and kill it, so combining with Shadow, you have two chances each phase to bring him down to 0.

Also, Trolls could be a good choice here because of their regen save not being ignored and they push really hard in combat.

Yeah I was thinking of the horde of 50 MOK marauders with GW and festus plus throgg and some trolls but it's the tests I have to take before I even fight that hurts the most.

I don't really play Skaven but would the Marauder cruise missile unit be of any help here? And would Pandemonium be any help were you to roll it for MoT? I know it's not a solid strategy since you can't be sure that you'll get it but it's worth a thought.

Last game I took death and tried to snipe his general, got 5 wounds on him but he passed all of his 3+ wards then we were in combat for the rest of the game. Think I'll try throgg and the marauders with festus. Plus 2 hell canons for high toughness combat.

Can a hellcannon target the plague furnace directly? If so, then a pair of S10, D6 wound shots should make a bit of a mess of it, and suddenly that unit isn't such a problem.
And I second the calls for knights, and the combination of shadow and death, with average rolls, curse of the leper and the withering, or the enfeebling can and will wipe out whole units, regardless of the size, nothing is more fun than removing a whole prize horde before they even reach combat.

My brother also plays empire a lot. He just got the new book too. Has anyone had any experience against the new empire armies? Are they much different? Or should I just expect lots of guns again?
