Chaos or Lizardmen?! someone needs to help me choose! i dont know which army to pik for starting my fantasy army. give me some ideas on what each army can do so i can get a good feel for both. thanks in advance.

Since your posting in Hordes of Chaos, i'd think you were leaning towards that direction. But I have no idea what type of army you want. Explain which tactics you want to use. Like outnumbering, great CC, Magic heavy, Warmachine train, or what?
Chaos has everything but ranged attack. Their Warriors and Knights are expensive but excellent. They have Daemonic and Beast units. They also have the Marks of Chaos to give them special rules. Khorne=Frenzy, Nurgle=+1 Wound and Fear, Tzeentch makes all heroes Lv 1 Wizards and has lots of flying monsters, Slaanesh are immune to Psycology, Undivided is immune to panic. All Chaos are strong in CC.
LM have lots of variety, but not as much as Chaos. Their Sarus infantry are very good. They can take spears or hand weapons. They can be mounted on Cold Ones as Sarus Cavalry. They can also take Sacred Spawnings, similar to Marks of Chaos. Skinks are the closest thing to cannon fodder. They are cheap, expendable, cool and can become scouts for one point more. They can be armed with javelins or blowpipes. Chamelion Skinks are the Skirmishers, perfect for warmachine or hero killing. Terradons are Flying units. Perfest for march stopping or warmachine killing. Can Hit and Run. Salamanders cause Fear and spit fire. Stegadons are 220 point sledgehammers that are almost a must have in a large army. Slann Mage Preists are extremely expensive mages that can kill most other wizards. The other haroes are Skink Preists, Skink Cheifs, Sarus Scar Vetrans and Sarus Oldbloods. Oldbloods can be mounted on the Carnosaur, a T-Rex looking dino that guarentees atleast a few kills.

Lizardmen have WAY more variety than chaos. Flying dinasaurs,massive warbeasts,agile skinks,strong and powerful saurus. No unit in the entire list is like any other unit aside from temple gaurd and saurus. With chaos its like...ok strong humans,strong humans on horses,weak humans,weak humans on horses,chariots,and demons. The demons dont have too many interesting special rules either.Not to mention the playing style. Chaos just runs up and goes into close combat,lizardmen work together with shooting harrasment and blocks of infantry backed up by massive kroxigors and stegedons But thats besides the point. Both are very good armies. Lizardmen can be beasts in close combat,as saurus can go toe to toe with chaos warriors in sheer fighting power,and both of their generals are some of the strongest in the game. Chaos is a bit better in close combat,has marks of the gods,etc.
