Welcome to Librarium Online!
I will be playing my first game with my Tzeentch army against my friends Bretonnia army. He knows I am playing Tzeentch so I am uneasy about the fact that he will stack up on anti-spell wargear.
I will be using something like this:
500 pt warbands: Tzeentch
Aspiring Champion of Chaos
Total: 171 pts.
5x Chaos Warriors
Total: 125 pts.
3x Chosen Chaos Knights
TOTAL = 501 pts.
He will be using something like 16 Exalted knights and a sorceres(sp?) or paladin. I am just curious on what anti-magic stuff to watch out for and if I should change my list at all.
Also, will he be able to use some type of magic armour that he can join a unit with giving it magic resistance or something?
Instead of this I was also considering cutting all the knights and adding more warriors or something. (at the moment I own a champion of Tzeentch, 5 knights, and 12 warriors)
P.S.this army is legal because we're playing warbands.
Thanks for any info.
EDIT: mistake in points
Well, if you're sure he's gonna blow a lot of points on anti-magic (dispel scrolls, whatever) you could call his bluff and take NO magic. Actually, magic is really ineffective at the 500 point level, and even worse in warbands, where you're limited to heroes of 150 points. Cripples some armies.
Also, your list is illegal. Check the warbands rules, combined hero cost maximum is 150; you have 171.
If you're just interested in winning, I would suggest bulking up your chosen Chaos Knights. Really, there's not a lot at this level of warbands that can kill them off. You'll blow right through his guys. If you have 5 knights, you can make another unit, and drop the warriors.
Ok thanks, I will fix him in the morning. I am going to bed now and will wait for other opinions before changing anything else.
* * * EDIT * * *
If my hero is 150 points or less he can't have any weapons because the mark of Tzeentch takes up all the points!
This has put me in a major dilemma, my leader is stuck with just a handweapon...
I agree with red120. Magic really doesn't work well in tiny games like that. Especially if your opponent knows you'll be relying on it. Go with red120's suggestion and take no magic at all, change to a different chaos power. Perhaps Nurgle for some fear causing chosen chaos knights!...
"Peace, through superior firepower."
Yes you guys are right, I tried it against a different friend today that plays high elves and I got killed. I like Tzeentch and would like to use his powers in big games but I'm not going to because I feel the need for an army that is also good in small battles.
I suppose my choices are between Khorne, Nurgle, and Slaanesh but I think Khorne is already out because I would like to have at least some magic.
Which has better magic Slaanesh or Nurgle? If it is just an opinion I would appreciate it if everyone posted theirs.
