Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hello fellow Chaos Generals,
I am asking for some advice against an extremely "shooty" rats!
I have been playing this guy who fields three units of troops (2 grps of Clanrats & one grp of Slaves) and then uses 2 ratling guns and a very large group of Jezzail's. To top this shooting party off he adds the following thrown-weapon troops: 2 groups of five Globabiers, and a group of about 7 Gutter Runners with stars. His strategy is to fire his long range guns and just let his troops hang back. Then when I'm half across the board he starts dancing around with his skrimsher groups of Globabiers and Gutter Runners, while throwing their poison weapons. He just pounding the hell out of my Archaon's Horde before I can get to him.
Good new is I pretty much dominant the magic phase with a 2nd level Soceror with a Power Familiar. So no magic missles to worry about.
We're both very new to WHFB. We have played three 1k games, (series at 1-1-1) and are moving to 1.5k for the next three. The only thing I know about his next list is that he'll be bringing out some "wheel-lightening-thing" and he's all excited about.
perhaps tell us the army list you take? It would really help knowing the models you use, and they're main role in your army.
Well for the 1.5k game coming up I was thinking:
- Beserker Sword
- Enchanted Shield
Soceror 2nd level (Shadow Lore)
- Power Familiar
2 units of 16 Warriors w/shields
30 Marauders w/shields & light armor
2 units of 5 Warhounds
2 Chaos Spawn
I'm hoping to add some speed to my troops and heros from the shadow mage, while dispelling everything he trys. I also hope to tie up some of his shooting Jezzials with the Flayerkin and screen with the hounds. I will also use the Spawns to hang back at the begining and deal with his Gutter Runners which will scout and try to attack my mage.

I am a huge fan of the warhounds, and seeing that your going up against a very shooty army...10 isnt enough. I would screen everything, especially the knights, even though I find that tactic rarely used. Screen the maradurs, the warriors, everything. I would also suggest marking the unit of knights with something that can scare those damnable rats off. Nurgle maybe? Just do one unit of nurgle, and you'll be fine. I would also suggest maradaur horsemen, as they are fast, and with throwing axes can be devistating at times. May I ask how you would first deploy your army?
Well besides what I posted earlier, my exalted champion will not be joining a unit in hopes of my shadow mage casting that spell that causes any single model to "Fly" 20in and charge. With his beserker sword he can cause large units of rats to break and cause the others to take panic tests (he likes to pack them all together and not move them).
The marauders will march up onside. Hopefully this large unit will atrract lots of shooting form teh Jezzails and Ratling Guns.
Next the hounds will march up the other side, while screening for the warriors and knights.
But this very tenative because of randomized terrian. So much of the time I'm having to develop a strategy for delployment on the fly while deploying.
