My question is-- what is up with the people saying that having a undivided chaos sorcerer in a krhone army is cheesy? I myself, dont like it either, and it is VERY unfluffy. I like that word, Fluff, but back to the question. It is allowed in the rules, no? And whats stopping a mad-power hungry player from fielding a combonation like this?
It's a playstyle. They have every right to say that it's cheesy.
Yes, it's allowed in the rules, and nothing stops that combo.
It's hardly at the level of mad-power hungry though.. Chaos, even cheesed out Chaos, doesn't exactly hit the top 3.
There are many other armies in the game that are much, MUCH easier to cheese out. i.e. A unit of 40 night gobbos with three fanatics costs under 300 points. This unit will win almost any combat unless you get really lucky. Most units will be outnumbered, they get +3 for their ranks, 1 for a standard. So at the beginning of a combat they have a 4 point lead on you, and thats if you have a standard (why wouldnt you?). Not to mention even if charge them with a unit of, ohhhh lets say 10 chosen knights of khorne, they still have the potential 3D6 higher than strength 4 but lower than strength 6 hits from the fanatics BEFORE combat even starts. Chances are your gonna lose enough knights from the fanatics to absolutely lose combat. And in a 1000 point game thats 120 goblins on the field probably with a souped up black orc general... i cant even imagine a 2000 point game with all gobbos. :eek *TP doesnt like gobbos*
So i don't think its very cheesy at all to have an undivided sorcerer in a khorne army, although it is very, very unfluffy. And i HATE unfluffy armies. But worse things could happen. *sets nemy on fire*
It's not Raymond Luxury Yacht, It's pronounced throat wobbler mangrove.

My elvish name is Maeglin Meneldur.
The following link illustrates a first class, top of the range cheesy chaos army;
Khorne army with Sorcerers. (2000pt Khorne Cavalry)
As I said in my reply to this army list, there's not a snowballs chance in hell that I'd let anyone play me with an army like that. I'm a great believer in the background of the warhammer world and while I'm happy to make a few allowances for the models that players have and so forth, this is just taking the mickey.
Khorne, and by association, his minions, hate spellcasters and magic with a passion. Any khorne warrior would kill a sorcerer (of any alignment) as soon as he set eyes upon him. There's absolutely no way any Khorne warrior would agree to be led into battle by a sorcerer, it just would not happen.
The only way you could have both sorcerers and Khorne troops in the same force, would be to have a Undivided Lord or champion lead the army. That would be acceptable, since both the Sorcerer and the Khorne troops would be led by the Lord or champion.
"Peace, through superior firepower."
It's only cheesy when you use lots of sorcerers. My Chaos army has a khorne general, but a relatively even split between Khorne and undivided troops. I have one undivided level 2 sorcerer - I wanted something to break up the turn a bit. It's not that gamey, and is probably a "waste" of 145pts (he has a lone scroll thanks to Archaon's horde free command).
It's when you see 6+ levels of magic and plenty of khorne units is when it becomes really dodgy.

Having an army and not owning a rulebook is like owning a car with no steering wheel.Originally Posted by amishcellphone

Helper monkey, bring me beer and donuts
I am a Khorne player myslef, and i must say, it is really wierd to have an undivided sorceror in a khorne army, (tzeentch lord has a point - but he is aligned with tzeentch. gggggrrrrrrrr)
When playing against armies with huge magical characters like high elves or lizardmen, sometimes the extra dispel dice aren't enough and on many occasions, i, personally, have had the extreme temptation to give them a taste of their own medicine. Nothing would make me more fuzzy inside then see a unit of 20 saurus warriors get hit by an irresistably cast "conflaguration of doom" spell (exept for seeing my exalted champion of khorne and his unit of chosen khorn warriors hack them to bits in a tide of frenzy).
And a large point which no-one has mentioned yet is, that chaos have absolutely no range what-so-ever (exept the hell cannon, which i think is stupid). in a khorne army with no magic, many of your units might find themselves almost obliterated even before coming into charge range of something. so magic can be very useful for taking out all those pesky archer, handgunner or skink unit thats pelting your chosen khorne knights.
so from a standpoint of having a cool-looking army with backround that is for fun, NO SORCERORS!
but for tactical players who want to kick some butt, GET A SORCEROR! or two!
Welcome to my world ppl, a place where khorne the god of chaos hacks ppl to bits. that and cookies.... we all like cookies. :pOriginally Posted by Kaszade, the Fury
