Welcome to Librarium Online!
You can say that I'm a begginer as a Hordes of Chaos army collector. I have had some battles against Dark Elves (my brother collects them) but mostly it's him who's the winning one.
Me and my brother decided to meet each week with others. By others I mean Wood and High elves. Against the WE I don't know what I'll send but I've got a plan on HE.
If you have some time advise me how to make my army list better.
HoC vs. HE Border patrol (500 pt.)
- Aspiring champion of chaos + halberd + barded chaos steed (100 pts.)
- 12 warriors of chaos + standard bearer + champion + shields (204 pt.s)
- 5 knights of chaos (165 pts.)
- 5 warhounds of chaos (30 pts.)
Whereas the HE army list will probably include:
- Silver helms
My hero would be seperate from any unit and would flank the swordmasters/silver helms; the warriors would go on the bowmen; the knights would attack the swordmasters/silver helms; and the warhounds would just keep one of his units at bay until heavy reinforcement will come.
Well? What do you all think? Feel free to criticise/modify/advise/agree.

i wouldnt go with the warhounds.... try to get something instead of warhounds...i hate warhounds...maybe switch it out for a plaguebearer banner
You could take marauders on instead of the hounds, maybe remove the banner as well. Even go as far as to give the marauders flails (by then its advisable to remove one or two chaos warriors) to make them a questionable priority. (Either the heavily armoured warriors or the maurauders witha big punch, or the fast and deadly knights)
It looks like a good list, with fast units followed up by a hammer blow. The only real problem there is is the archers going after the warriors while everything else engages your knights and champion. Not even a champion of chaos can survive being assaulted to many times...

I'd keep the warhound to use as a screen against the archers so the warriors can get close enough to do some damage. They are also pretty useful as a flanking unit in the unlikely event that any of them survive getting shot.
