Welcome to Librarium Online!
I just assembled my first box of chaos warriors, and noticed that they're different from the ones shown in the codex, and so I'm assuming they're new. (The ones in the codex have the semi-cheesy old-GW-model look.)
Anyway I'm not really seeing any way to give the new warriors anything other than dual hand weapons, or a HW and shield. The way the bodies are built makes it look very hard to give them either halberds or great weapons. Any suggestions?
you should give them hand weapons and shields, but if u want halberds, convert them. I converted mine from brass rods and bretonnia halberds.
just get the arms from the old models and use the halberds from them to make halberds or great weapons by putting the halberd in both hands
i didnt do it it was him 'onest boss
Army Book. (sorry, :hmm: I'm not picking on you but that does bug me. codexes are 40k, army books are warhammer)Originally Posted by Fat_Badger
Anyway, the new Chaos warriors are much better looking than the old ones, mainly because the head in on top of the shoulders rather than on the front of the chest! However, the new warriors are much harder to convert and look far less animated that the old ones. I still like the old warriors because I've found a quick and easy way to stick the heads on the top of the body and disguise the hole in the chest without it looking odd.
I can't think how you would convert the new warriors to carry two handed weapons without each warrior stabbing the guy to the side of him! The only way I can think of is to have all the halberds/great weapons in one hand, pointing up.

Yeah I'm definately having a hard time figuring out how to do this without greenstuff on each lowly model. I can justify that with champions or commanders... but individual infantry... dunno.
Codices. One 'i' in the word. Heh, had to continue it.Originally Posted by Fat_Badger
Though the definition of the word 'codex' is a book (it is a bit more technical than that), it does seem to bother me sometimes, so you're not alone Tzeentch Lord.
As for halberds/great weapons, Be'Lakor's idea is pretty much mine, though I think Bretonnian men-at-arms halberds are a bit on the small side for chaos. A normal warrior axe head on the top would work alright.
The other way I've seen it done (though I've no idea how hard it is) is to clip off the top of one weapon (axe or mace) and have the top of it go into the bottom of the other weapon/hand. Of course, the weapons would have to have matching handles, and you'd have to be careful to get it straight, but I have seen it done before. Don't know how well they would line up, though.
