I'm a Tzeentch Chaos army, and my friend is Skaven. I'm havin some issues on my unit deployment an strategy, please help!
you will more then likely have to go into futher detail, describing your situation and your forces.
You might also want to swing by the rules section up top as well for some info for people who are new to the forum
Well, here's a rough outline of my army:
1 Lvl 4 Lord of Tzeentch (General)
12 Wariors of Chaos
12 Wariors of Chaos
5 Knights of chaos
1 Firewyrm of Tzeentch
1 Lvl 2 Sorcerer of Chaos
5 Screamers of Tzeentch
17 Thunderers (Dogs of War)
1 Chaos Chariot
My Skaven enemy uses magic and uses slaves as walls for his better units, like poison wind globodiers, warp fire throwers, and rat ogres
Lords are good (if a bit expensive, especially Tzeentch ones), what gear does he have? Which unit does he usually join? (he does join a unit right?!)Originally Posted by Chocolate_CakeBoth warrior units need to be at least 16 models strong to get maximum rank bonus (warriors need rank bonus just like everyone else), ideally more than 16 so you can absorb some casualties and still get max rank bonus. The Knights are fine as a small elite unit though. Despite what some Khorne players seem to think, it isn't always a great idea investing 500+ points in one small unit of no more than 10 models!Originally Posted by Chocolate_CakeSpawn are great. The Firewyrm of Tzeentch upgrade is rubbish (trust me on this, I've field tested them myself). Just take a normal spawn, leaving 15 points to be better spent elsewhere.Originally Posted by Chocolate_CakeIf this is a normal Sorcerer, he should be using Fire or Death magic (Fire is great for sheer destructive power! ).Originally Posted by Chocolate_CakeExcellent unit :w00t: , no self repecting Tzeentch army should be without some Screamers. Five is also a good number to have, because although Screamers never negate enemy rank bonuses (being skirmishers), if you have five or more you do get the +1/+2 for attacking the enemy flank/rear.Originally Posted by Chocolate_CakeDitch these, first because you don't need them and they take up a valuable special or rare slot which could be filled by some gribbly beast units, but also because a Chaos army doesn't need shooty troops! Chaos armies need as many close combat maniacs as possible! Besides, many armies don't bother advancing towards a chaos army because they know the chaos troops will come to them, so these guys are likely to be just sitting at the back of your deployment zone taking pot shots at any targets of opportunity. Lose the Thunderers.Originally Posted by Chocolate_Cake

alright, i'm the skaven "enemie" he plays against, and yes, he does need some help.
mainly, i think in the thinking aspect of the game.
first, he doesn't use his warriors enough, at all. he lets them sit back, and tries and clear my front line (usually of slaves) with his elite units.
once he tried using his spawn, chariot, and chaos lord to take on acouple rat swarms, and giant rats... bad idea, Luke!
this enabled me to pretty much go wherever i wanted not really worring about anything.
i've tried to help, but i doesn't really seem to get through his head.
alright, deployment tips, and "plans"... and maybe some tricks, although i dunno if chaos as such things , would help this chaos player greatly.
help needed... badly.
