Where (if anywhere, I'm really new to chaos) does it say how to do it? Where are the rules for it? Thanks a lot!
first of all, you will need both books. here you can find the rules for all 3 armys now ( daemons, mortals and beasts ) and rad up about it in the book. to make it easier though, ill tell you.
it all depends on your general. if he is a mortal, mortals are core choices, beasts and daemons are special. vice versa on those 2. daemons can get something for 5pts that gives them moprtals for core, but this is more advanced, that you should read about.
vampire counts ( under construction)
am thinking about starting it again
currently working on :
second unit of skellys
most likely thing next :
another box of skellys .....
Creme Egg is correct. You will need both books.
If your general is a Beast, Beasts core other special.
If general is Daemon OR Mortal with Chalice of Chaos, Daemon core other special.
If general is Mortal OR Daemon with Master of Mortals Daemonic Gift, Mortal Core other special.
Keep in mind that those units listed under Special and Rare in the Beasts of Chaos Army Book will be Special and Rare respectively regardless of your general. Other restrictions may apply in specific cases, read the entries in the army books.
Right! So the general only influences the beastmen core choices, right? (making them core or special), and all the other beastmen units (special and rare) are not influenced by the general. Thanks for your responces!
Correct. You'll notice in the book it says 'Beast' and not 'Core'. In HoC, it says Mortal, Daemon, then Rare. The general only determines the spread of Beasts, Mortals, and Daemons, and not those pieces that are headed with Special and Rare.
I reccomend that you do get a BoC book because HoC may have the superior core units but beasts have thier own specialized core units and they have strong special units like minotaurs and ogres and rares like dragon ogres and giants whilst HoC have no special units as such. Minotaurs and a Giant are highly reccomended in a HoC army
Not only that but you can then get lots of lovely magic items too.
Some have Beastmen only restrictions, but some are very nice for mortals.
Archaon's Top Tip for profiting from the End Time: Pillage before you burn
When I say jump you don't ask me 'How high?' maggot! You jump!
Those that are useful include the Fleshbanner and the Greatfang, both of which I've seen to devestating effect in a beast free army (Archaon's Horde and they're still legal).Originally Posted by Archaon
bonecrusher mace is good one to give a chaos lord aswell if ur worried about a steam tank, in the hands of a chaos lord the tank will die within 2 turns of combat.
Even beastherds go well in a HoC army as they can protect the flanks.. beast herds are one of the best skirmishing units in the game. And beastigor are very good for thier cost (especialy with MoK)
