what would be the best dogs of war for a primarily khorne army?
Since im just starting chaos im wondering if i need any dogs?
I know a person at my gw who takes some crossbowman with his chaos(not khorne) army
I just think it would be out right awesomeness to include a cannon
its small caliber though

In general I dislike the idea of Khorne having anything to do with shooting. Its just not veyr fluffy.
Feels a bit like taking an Undivided Sorceror in the army, just because you can and it helps you.
A cannon or crossbowmen are you best bet if you want to compliment your HoC. I don't think there is much in the Dogs of War list that can top anything available in the Beasts and Hordes of Chaos books in terms of CC. So shooting is the place where Dogs of War would be most useful

A unit of duelists with pistols is a pretty good unit. It would compliment the CC style of chaos pretty well, and give you a little shooting.
When it comes to DoW, the best advice I can give is play to your strengths. Don't try and cover your weakness in shooting, instead pick something that will reinforce your colse-combat. If you know you're facing a specific threat that can only be dealt with by liberal aplication of lead, then fine, but for a standing list, go for CC, like Ogres.
Yeah I would find it best to supplement your already potent CC abilities.
Perhaps a unit of cheap combat troops on small bases. This could allow you to get plenty of static combat resolution for cheap, and not take up too much space. Ogre Ironguts would also be a good call.

98% of the population actually believes these stupid statistics. If you're part of the 2% of humanity with a brain, put this in your profile.
How about Ogre Leadbelchers? They are just like normal ogres in combat, but can shoot! Only things is they are expensive and their shooting probably wouldn't compliment your army enough to justify their cost....Personally, I would just go with stuff from the Chaos list or Beasts list, but as said before, if you really want some Dogs of War, I would go with Ogres....If you were to convert them....You know, it would be really cool! Just make them look they there were spawned straight out of hell! (Like something from Silent Hill....). You could even take a cannon if you really wanted, and convert that too! (Just don't make a Hellcannon...). Well, good luck with whatever you do!
....He is coming for YOU....

Nobody needs Dogs of War, they are only there if you want to add something a bit different to your army. Like the other dudes have said, don't bother hiring any shooty troops as they'll contribute very little to your battle plan. Rather, go for something that compliments your close combat theme, Ogres, Heavy cavalry, how about some Frenzied Norse Marauders?!Originally Posted by jancz

I would rather use my rare choices on a chaos giant or spawns of chaos (2 spawns= 1 rare choice) or sometimes i use a hellcannon. But if I were to use Dogs Of War i would choose leadbelchers because they can fight aswell.
You could always pick a unit of Ruglud's boyz. I find they can sit back on one flank and shoot things with their crossbows (good range and strength) effectively denying that flank to your opponent. You can then use your big hitty units on the other flank. This forces your opponent to either counter the threat of nasty chosen chaos knights on one side and ignore the orcs, or vice versa.
Whichever he goes for he ends up in trouble as he can be flanked. Also Rugluds are pretty tasty in a fight as they have choppas
