I would like to include one large unit of marauders with hand weapons and shields in my army, but I didn't like the marauder models and I didn't like the fact they only came with 16in a box. So I did a little looking around and I thought "Hey, warriors of rohan look pretty sweet, you can arm them with hand weapons and shields, they only cost 25 dollars, and they come with 24!" So I was thinking I would just buy a box of them and buy a bag of small infantry bases (as they come with circular ones) and use that.
Has anyone tried this? Does it work? Can I arm everyone with a hand weapon and shield or do I have to make some of the archers?
Well, I don't know anything about their sprues so I don't know it there would be enough bits to arm them all with handweapon & shield.
Heck, judging from the models, they might even be not to be assembled, but already ready cast.
On a few other notes, chaos marauders come on the large infantry bases, so putting them on the smaller ones might lead to objections.
And finally, LotR is about 24mm size (whilst WHFB and 40K are 28mm), so your Marauders would be quite the midgets (they'd be smaller than the average empire Soldier) so you might experience some gloating
Apart from the modeling issue ( the scale is pretty bad), there is the legal issue. I love the thought of rohan infantry, or LoTR elves in an high elf army, but they are illegal for official tournament play.
I'm about 99% sure they are tournament legal, as GW says that all models must be citadel minis. I've seen fantasy minis in 40k tourneys and 40k (converted) minis in fantasy tournaments.
Yes, but LoTR falls under a different category and game, and also licensing. I've seen model entries disqualified for this. (unless they change this as they are buying back the license from new line cinema)Originally Posted by ^Heavy Support^
Really? I would think that GW would do anything to boost the sales of their LOTR figures.Originally Posted by Wolf_Pack

98% of the population actually believes these stupid statistics. If you're part of the 2% of humanity with a brain, put this in your profile.
Unfortunatly GW has specifically stated that LOTR models can't be used in conjunction with Warhammer models (a shame really because some of the models are quite nice like the wring wraiths etc). I don't think this is GW being funny but rather the film company (MGM?) wanting to make sure LOTR is kept seperate it was part of the liscencing agreement GW got to produce the models in the first place. I suspect it is partly why the WD has got a completly sperate LOTR section as well.
