Welcome to Librarium Online!
Am I missing something? How do you guys model them with Great Weapons?! I only see flails on the sprues, and throwing axes (unless these are suppossed to be the Great Weapons)...
Its a simple matter of putting axe heads on flail shafts I suppose. It is a very simple procedure and doesn't require green stuff.
Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
"'Tis some visitor," I muttered, "tapping at my chamber door-
Only this, and nothing more."
Where can I find this guy Rex's posts?!Originally Posted by Andusciassus
There are of course several ways to convert great weapons (some of which require greenstuff), but the easiest way is to simply put the different weapon-heads from the box onto the poles of the flails.
If you go for the 'what's-in-the-box'-variant then the coolest weapons (IMO) are greatclubs (flail-heads, just cut the chain) or great axes (swap for axe-heads).
Other coversions are to make the weapon itself (axe, mace, maul) and then attach it to the model afterwardsl. You then have to sculpt the hand around the weapon with GS. This can create really cool poses, like holding the weapon over your shoulder or leaning against it.
Check the gallery for pics (barbarian horde).
you can also order the vintage marauders from the GW website. they used to make metal models with great weapons. also, if you have chaos warriors use the weapons from their box to add more flavor. marauders are ragged fellows... they'd use anything to smash skulls
