Welcome to Librarium Online!
Some of you might know me, and others may not. I've been on this forum for a long time, but only in the 40k sections.
As the new edition of Fantasy approaches, I decided to throw caution to the wind and take a look at the game which has been around the longest.
So, as the title loosely suggests, I've been looking at putting up a Tzeentch army. Y'know....Sorcerers, Mark of Tzeentch...Horrors. Stuff like that.
But I need your help. Picking up the Hordes of Chaos army book was a huge slap in the face. The armoury seemed almost three times as big as anything in 40k, at least in terms of weapon options. I'm looking through it, and thinking to myself, "that's pretty cool". But the amount of times I've done that is getting beyond proportion, so I ask you:
What wargear is near essential for a coherent Chaos list? Is there anything that one of my Sorcerers should take beyond a douby? I've read the army book, but there is really nothing I can decide on. Then again...I might have simply overlooked something. The number of items was simply too much for my feeble 40k brain to take. ^_^
I really need a starting point to help me get a nudge in the right direction.
Any help would be appreciated.
well if your mounting a character on a disc of tzeentch then i think a golden of o tzeentch is a necestiy as this will allow you to a agile spell caster who won't fall prey to lots of shooting.
also i like to equip a hero with a power familiar as the 2 extra dice are usefull. other than the ever essential dispel scrolls i don't use much else except for maybe the staff of change or skull of katam when i have the points and i want to try something new
The Staff of Change is a GODLY item for all Tzeentch lords. Especially next edition with the cruel miscast table, you will NEED this thing.
Aside from that, yes the Golden Eye is wonderful for any character who might take some shooting.
Most of the chaos magic weapons are actually garbage. A great weapon, or a sword of striking/battle is all you'll ever need for damage output.
The armor of damnation is great, and our arcane items are pretty hot too.
The Hierarchy Chaotica: Kinky Sex > Change > Disease > Blood
98% of the population actually believes these stupid statistics. If you're part of the 2% of humanity with a brain, put this in your profile.
Thanks, guys. Much appreciated. ^_^
I'll start putting an army list together shortly.
haha, thats pretty funny. see, im trying to get into 40k and am totally overwealmed by the wargear list, and weapons (twin linked what? heavy who?)
but anways, i would suggest that for the moment that you ignore most of the magic weapon and item secton. till you start looking at 1000 or above army lists you realy dont need it. its better to become acustomed to the different types of units, unit equipment and that kind of stuff.
in the end, generals and characters play a part, but not a substantial part of doing well. troops, monsters, and chariots will win the day.
