I was playing against dark elves just today with an all Khrone army (trying something different) and at the end of the battle he comented that i won only because i broke the rules with my lord, i had some free points so i threw him on a juggernaught and put him with my large unit of knights. he said that multi wound monsters cant be put in a regular unit.
while that may be true with juggernaught (though that would make it incredibly useless, what about demonic steeds? ive seen archon in a knight unit, and that was my justfication for puting my lord in a knight unit.
so was i cheating? (though i doubt that cost him the battle )
Nope, you weren't. I'm pretty sure you can even put a character on a dragon into a unit. You would, however, be breaking the rules if you used the "look out sir!" ward for that character. Rumours say that in the next edition characters with a different base size to the models in the unit will still get look out sir, but at the moment that is not the case.
Remember, if in doubt consult the BRB. That will give you the info you need, and anything it doesn't mention aint illegal in my books
So Sayeth Jimmy boy
I believe that it was fine, as a daemonic mount does not make you a large target. However I think that the only restriction is as Jimmy said, you would not be able to use lookoutsir rolls.

98% of the population actually believes these stupid statistics. If you're part of the 2% of humanity with a brain, put this in your profile.
Yup Jimmy boy is rightCiaoOriginally Posted by Direwolves
i want to confirm that next edition there will be a look out sir for larger based odles in a smaller based unt. I read it at my local gw store where there is a 90 dollar rule book for display.
E-bay helps us all!

You are right, Laughingman, but they did that because they are eliminating the "within 5 inches, cannot target" rule. Also, I believe it will still be limited in some way (can't remember how). Lords on dragons prolly still can't get "Look out, sir!"
Mongol General: Conan, what is best in life?
Conan: To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women!
I didn't know the 5" rule was being abolished. I don't really mind though, anyone dumb enough to have characters wandering around on their own deserves to have them zapped!
A mounted character in a unit cannot be picked out by shooting and benefits from the Look Out Sir rules unless the combined unit strength of the character and mount is 5 or more.
So now the lord on a daemonic mount can sit safely inside a unit of warriors.
