there is a way to stop the diserpearing you need a deamon charector (such as a deamon prince) give him the diabolic splender gift that turns his arua into ward save (now the unit he joins has a ward save not arua save) with magic there main weakness gone you can now give you beast a a magic level there are a fewspeels out there that will remove the instablity rule and i know one is in the lore of slannesh (all hail sorry my army is slannesh) most of these spells are remains in play so as long as it is not despelled (you will face problems with tome kings and high elf's) you should have one unit at least that wont dissapear as soon as they loose.

another point is you can still take mortale (and beast's for that matter) as special wich with an army that is prone to disserpearing that may be a good idea though you could also take troles minotors and such and then there are the rares (if you have any slots left after your hero's/lord's) they are not demonic Though you cannot take dogs of war or dragon oger shaggroths (not sure bout normal dragon ogers. well hope this helps.

Yer i can take mortals (But lets face it there not as cool) which eould save me some money. Perhaps 1000 points would be a sane sized army though. Then again with a greater deamon....

If you are doing a Daemon army don't bother with Tzeentch Daemons (except screamers) They are quite expensive, you need them in big units, they are useless in combat, one of their spells needs them to be in combat, and another so close that they will end up in combat soon. (I am a Tzeentch player) Roughly how much are you prepared to spend on the army?

I'm starting a demon heavy slannesh army, and I was wondering if any of you have any tips.
I will be using chariot(but will convert them with demaon and such), some marauder(I'm thinking of using the new sister repenta, cuting off the huge chainsword and put a flail in the hand.
So like I said any tips?

ah, the art of the deamon army......

I have a Tzeentch/nurgle/whatever I find deamon army and I've discovered that the only way to save money is to use points. Take either a very expensive lord or a greater deamon (the lord of change is what I use because I got it cheap) and use it's strengths (ie everything) to mash through enemies. Remember that deamon characters are all spell casters (except khorne ones, who make up for it by being hard as nails in combat) and therefore they can, if neccessary, just flit around (using their wings) and blast the enemy with magic.

I have found that the units are extremely expensive in money, and thus if even one of them does the vanishing trick it can seem like a huge waste of money. Therefore you need to be quite a skilled player to get the army to work in harmony, rather than each unit doing their own thing.

I found that if you collect chaos in 40K it's a lot easier to spend more on models, as you are actually buying 2 armies at once, therefore you can spend twice as much (or so I keep telling myself).

I personally have 2 armys already (bretts and dwarfs) so in bigger battles I can use them and in smaller ones I can use my gradually growing deamons (therefore you don't have to spend loads all at once).

Demon are getting chariot and a new hero thats a bsb, and all the demons are getting new calvary.

The slannesh chriot has movement 10(charge 20), and str10.
The khrone chariot will have unit str 5, and pulled by juggernaughts.

anlso slannesh will have demonettes on steed, and demonnettes on armored calvary.
