Welcome to Librarium Online!
I was thinking of starting a Hordes of Chaos army on the sole basis of their warriors looking hella cool. I have had my share of really 'chaosy' chaos armies, adn really just want to have a clean-shaven, yet evil, army. Think Elite, not so nice, mercenaries. I was just wondering, what is everyone's opinion on their looks, and abilities (I have no clue, other than they are T4).

hordes of chaos are a fun army and yes with 4 toughness they also have a basic 4 str and 5 ws the warriors are very awsome. sure they are costly in points but they do have heavy armour standard which is a great help. a block of 20 chaos warriors with sheild and hand weapons with comand can width stand quite a punishment which is always great.

Well, elite pretty much spells Mortal Chaos. Big stats, as mentioned, and I5 is also one to note. The knights are also scary as hell, not to mention massive Heros and Lords, all with S5, high ws, and lots of attacks.
As for the idea, many people use this style of chaos with great success. I know you want an elite army, but the most successful mortal armies have a solid contingent of Marauders to flesh out the army a bit (As far as ive seen. Some chaos player with 50 wins, 0 loses and all warriors can prove me wrong here....). All warriors is gonna be a teeny tiny army, that most can out manouvre. Besides, Marauders are still better than the average human, so they can still be seen as elite.
Other than that, go hard dude! Nothing wrong with the idea at all.
Well, at least I know I can build a large (points-wise) army quickly...
Maybe I could use Chaos warriors as proxies for something...like muraders...idk...
I just REALLY like their looks...and...well, the best course of action is to get the army book of corse!
Well, time to get outta this hell hole and eat lunch, *Leaves daemon pit, putting up a sign; "back in 15"*
Cheers evil muties

Ive been gaming since the second grade and I think you might be making the mistake that I always seemd to have done.
I always played armies of of what I liked, nothing for playability or little in that aspect. I also lost almost all of my games. Now Im attracted to Chaos and Tzeentch, which is both considered really good, some can say OP. Its like Ive been given the opurtunity too win. Now I myself am trying not to blow it with ineffective armies filled with stuff I like. I still havnt played much or big games, yet includ marauders. They sound like they are needed to win. This game I dont want to lose again. The few games I did win in past games were fun, seeing my army do well on the field of battle. I want to have that joy again.
Now your also attracted by Chaos, now me, there are some things that I love with the same love that you have for warriors. For me thats heros. Already lists I make I know are not good yet look fun.
So If I were you, I wouldnt take all warriors. Unless your prepared to lose. It sounds bad of me but Ive had so many years of loseing, Im going to try and win a game, Im going to now enter a tournament and try really hard to win, and enter lists that I dont like how they look but I think they are very effective. Taking all warriors is something that will keep me from this.
Now Im sure there some list out there with all warriors, but for the most part, marauders are needed.
Just some personal notes by me.
Yet when I was in 3rd, 2ed, 4th grade, I was expected to lose, so I was fine with it. Now Im not expected to lose. Im the average age of everyone else. Our group seems kind of competetive and were forming up a campaign, the 40k campaign has $90 prizes. Fantasy will be getting that too. I dont want to put down fame, fortune, victories to have all the fun of other aspects of the game. I read the GW article about "Are there other ways to having fun that isnt winning?" Yes, Ive mastered it and done it to many times. Ive done that my whole life.
Time to see if I actually can win if I make a good list and try dead hard too. I just had to say this our else my message would make me look like some blood thirsty power gamer trying to destroy the foundations of gaming. Im just trying to see if I can win and try and have some fun out of winning from games. Something I never really got to have.
Ive been trying to tell myself this. Yet Im bound to not care and post some craptastic Tzeentch army with 3+ heros that I think are cool leaving 400 points of marauders left over!

This may suprise you...but I want an army to lose with...
I have this unerring habit of winning...with EVERY ARMY...Thousand sons? piece of cake, Dark Eldar? Pish posh, catachans on an open battlefield...challange? I think not!
I'm starting to scare myself...I even win with my crazy orks vs. tau...

Zomgz! Your the exact opposite of me!
I just seem to re-design my army before ever tourny and take last place!
In Axis and Allies miniatures, I decided I wanted to win, I choose a winning list that is supposed to be the best. Yet I changed the list and lost every game. I then played the tourny winner after with the "best army" and beat him. One of the few games I won, I could have won that tournment! Im also starting to scare myself on how I can blow every chance to winning a game!
Ive already designed lists that I think are cool because of the viking-barbarian theme I gave them. Im about to go post them and Im bound to only take in half the advice and blow the other advice out to keep the army cool.
PS. Then make some Chosen! I always hear having a big unit of Chosen Warriors isnt being to saavy.
Well, i dont see how going all mortals is a 'losing' army. As ive said, people DO do this and win. Archaons horde anyone???
I mean, lets break down the mortal list:
Heros and lords: Awesome. No 2 ways about it.
Sorcerers: Great magic lores, plus very handy familiars. Coming with chaos armour as standard, more resiliant than the average sorcerer, and should cause havoc if used well.
Warriors: Highly elite unit. Massive stats but massive points. In any sort of numbers, very big threat.
Marauders: Cheap, and better than the average human. Access to good armour, flails for high strength, or even both to deal with every situation. Another great unit.
Marauder horseman: Human fast cav thats s5 on the first round(not just on the charge...) is brilliant. The only other fast cav thats s5 on the charge are Wild Riders, and they're way more expensive. Add this this s4 throwing axes and M8, these guys are gold.
Chaos knights: Once chosen, every missile will point at these guys, coz they're awsome. Stats so good, they dont even need a lance.
Chariot: The best chariot in the game IMO. s5, t5, 3+ save, s5 ws5 crew (halberd) s4 steeds. Want more? its even a CORE choice. Too good to miss out on.
Sure, the incusion of beastmen and daemons can help against certain weaknesses of the army (no fear causes [except mounts for lord, hero], no skermishers) but in my opinion, the boys can look after themselves.
Want an army to lose with? Maybe go with an all cav Tomb Kings list with only 1 heiropahnt, or any ogre kingdoms army. Chaos will br no help here (unless you write a god awful list that is.....)

Well, I guess another winning army won't hurt:rolleyes:
What I ment by losing army, I want a challanging army...
W/e It'll be hella fun!

Infact look at the list I posted, all mortals. Im saying all chaos warriors. No marauders or marauder horsemen. An army of just heros warriors and maybe some knights. I think all mortal lists are cooler then lists with demons. The only time I take stuff from the demons is screamers because the chaos knights guide says they are good. I think horrors and the nurgle things are just ugly and I wouldnt use them. Only Horrors for Indigo Fire which I think is awesome!
