Welcome to Librarium Online!
So I've been planning out an Undivided Chaos Army recently. The main look for the units in this army is mainly corrupted Saurus in suits of armour similar to the armour that this one Soldier is wearing (and that's from Kingdom Hearts, if you didn't know already; and yes, I am a KH fan).
The idea behind the armour-encased Saurus is that they were once a legion of warriors who chased after a force of Daemons in the time when chaos first entered the world. Lizardmen aren't really affected by chaos by much, but there isn't anything that says that Saurus can't be affected when directly within the Chaos Wastes.
Modelling-wise, they're going to be heck to convert, especially when using Green Stuff for sculpting such armour on, but the end result (provided I don't mess up at one point) would be cool looking. Any suggestions for things such as conversions and essential model parts will be appreciated greatly (already have Saurus Warriors considers as a base model idea for Chaos Warriors, but other ideas will be a good boon).
Thoughts, suggestions, and comments, anyone?
Well, it is certainly an interesting and different concept. If you post pictures they'd be fun.
The only modeling thought I have is use a bunch of temple guard to start with, or look for some of the older generation chaos warrior models. They had a more forward leaning posture, and larger heads, so they might lend well to conversions with saurus warriors.
I'd say the warriors would have to be chosen for the 2 attacks, and I'd say you shouldn't use more than 1 unit of them to have an effective force (can't take more than 1 chosen anyway.
Arena of Death Champion: Nexim of the Guldskullz Tribe. Fear my wrath!
Going to start with concepts before I start modeling them up (and this might take some time before I manage to get at least a unit done, and I'll be putting off playing video games in order to do it). Once I get some concepts that look good, I'll get them scanned and posted here. This way, I'll have a reference to work with (and I'll be using a couple pictures of those KH Soldiers as I go). Good thing I only have about a month and a week or so left of school before Summer Vacation arrives.
As for base models to start with, Temple Guard don't sound too bad an idea (even if they're not plastic, at least I wouldn't have too much trouble ranking them up).
I think it's a fantastic idea. Don't worry about the fluff side of things, just make up your own!
It sounds like they would be a pain to convert as you have already said, but if you went through with it the end result would be fantastic! Good luck to you!
