Welcome to Librarium Online!
I was a little unsure as to where to put this thread. The actual rules for the Choas Giant are in the BoC book but I'm going to be using him in a mortal HoC army. I figured more people view HoC so sod it, it's going here!
I was looking at the Mutant Monstrocity special rule and it seems like a very nice option. The added armour save is always nice but I really like the idea of the possibility of the giant falling in the direction of your choice. Ok he'll take a wound but the damage he'll cause by falling square on the unit he's fighting is more than enough to make up for it.
So does anyone have any experience using this rule, or maybe you would just like to comment on it? In theory I like it, or is the giant better as he comes?
Can't honestly say I've used one before dude but, here are my thoughts.
First off Giants are (as we alll know) large targets, so ... T5 be damned if they get in range of a shooty unit those 6 wounds will fall down easily to 2 or 3 If you're lucky. Under those circumstances paying that little for a 5+ scaly skin save seems like a bargain and the falling over, that's just icing on the cake.
I would have to be mighty focused on other things not to include a giant in my list without making it a M.M.
Food for thought man, hope it helps.
What is the most humane way to kill a lobster, in the fridge or with Michael Bolton music?
My thoughts: Giants are fire magnets, and gunpowder and most war machines ignore armor. Against armies with lots of S3 shooting I might bother, but I wouldn't take it against an unknown foe. Doesn't do any good against the shooting that matters, and is likely to cause you to kill your own (weakened by shooting) giant by falling over preemptively.
