My mate colects Ogers which he bunchs them but when I charge them he flank charges my warriers or knight with Ironguts or a Bruser and my brother colects Wood Elves which he sits in the woods, fires his Glade Guard and charges his trees out to slow me down while he shoot me.
I am debating weather is it worth getting a Hellcannon to try to sort out this problem.
Any advise would be useful.
DONT GET A HELLCANNON!!
(I'm the ogre player  )
Well eventhough I'm probably dooming myself by saying this.. I think you should get a hellcannon as it would kick my but
I'm Useless :D
Hellcannons reek havok and win almost every game I have played against ogres...that why I stopped using them in fun games...I still use them in tourneys....hehe.
It is worth it against ogres...And pretty much any other army that is not immune to phsycology.
Yea if you want to win this is a goods way to do it. Str 10 probly muliple wounsd is awsome, but with the low ogre moral this bexcomes a great investment. Plus its somewhat cheap for what it dose ands the only thing the ogre part of my mind can think to do is send a gorger which woulsd be basicaly be useless.
I've never used a Hellcannon, mainly because I don't own one, but also because they're quite expensive points-wise and take up two rare choices (I think). However, it's pretty much the only effective shooting a Chaos horde can have and an artillery piece that can fight back is a superb thing to have! The best advice really would be to get one and field test it, see how well it works against various enemies.
"Peace, through superior firepower."
You don't have to resort to bringing a cheese cannon. Most chaos armies that get shot to bits or crushed by ogres have 3 things. Lots of warriors, possibly chosen, little or no marauders, and no flyers.
Now if you bring furies, 2 blocks of marauder, some marauder horsemen, Screamers if tzeench is your thing. Warhounds are a must, 2-3 units of the dogs move very fast, and the amazing aboce average WS. If you find them expensive $ wise (and they are) Buy a box of goblin wolf riders, and ditch the riders ^_^
You'll outmanouver ogres, and have so cheaper units to bait with (namely marauders). I even have throwing axes on my Marauders, just to disrupt and march block enemy units. Speed is our blessing, use it.
Warriors are a support your, not an army's ''core'' units. Marauders bring you the ranks, and the warriors bring the killing
Also Beastmen are the bane of Wood elves. They skirmish but get 2 ranks, and harder to hit with shooting, and can lay down ambushes quite nicely. You should try incorporating these against woodies.
Thx this realy helps and i am going to try to use what you say
in close combat can they target the crew?
Here's my thoughts from the other current hellcannon thread.cheers!I like a hellcannon in my army to deal with gunlines, and concentrations of troops. It serves to disperse the enemy, allowing your superior CC troops to pick off the enemy one at a time. I think it is definately worthwhile, although it is technically undivided, so if you are being uber-fluffy you might not include it in a Khorne army either.
I typically field it on a flank by itself. It is nasty enough to take most units in CC. Last time I played against one, it destroyed a unit of hammerers, a dwarf lord, a gyrocopter and an organ gun in CC by itself. So if the enemy engages it, it is a blessing. If not, it can still destroy things nicely for you. Of course if it miscasts, it's not so great... but it IS a lot of fun.
Arena of Death Champion: Nexim of the Guldskullz Tribe. Fear my wrath!
Did you say that it miscasts? does that mean it can be dispelled?
