Hey guys, I understand the basic rules of WHFB and am looking into starting an army (I alreaedy play 40k). I would like a mainly melee infantry army backed by calvalry for flanking and some ranged units to weaken enemy units. I would like magic in my army. please paint me a picture of a chaos army with your reply (avg. model count at 2k points, mainly lots of weak units or a few strong ones, effectiveness of magic, etc.) thanks for your time.
Sounds to me like you want youre army to be really good at everything.
Yea, I agree... You seem to be looking for the holy grail of powergaming.
If you are really interested, then you should read/buy the armybook, read up on the gamesworkshop website and finally kick your butt over to the armylist sub-forum and look at some 2k armies, to see how many models, sorcerers, and whatever there is in the army, and how people are responding to that theme.
You should really do some ground work yourself!

that seems to have come off the wrong way. I want an army that is good at toe to toe combat. I would also like to be able to use magic. I would rather not spend 20$ on an army book just to learn what the army is like if it isn't going to be the one I choose to play in the long run.
Chaos is combat. If you want an army that can take on anything up close, Chaos is the army of choice. Chaos characters, knights warriors and the monster units from BoC are all dangerous combat units (if few in number).
Magic is good, it has some great spell lores.
Having an army and not owning a rulebook is like owning a car with no steering wheel.Originally Posted by amishcellphone
thanks for the reply. another question for you: Does Chaos use its own spell lists or does it draw from the lores in the rulebook?
I'm not going to go into any further detail of what is listed in the Army Books, so you'll have to get it and read up on it yourself. Besides, if we told you all those details then GW would've dropped a Hammerer on us.
thanks a lot for the help
